That is great. Just great. That's amazing to do with someone with needs...

I love the polic in this country.

Seems she is well known to the police there.

Its being investigated.

it seems like an obvious case of assault to me. he should be charged. whatever past history they may have with her doesn't really enter into it, from the video she was clearly not being combative or a threat, she was clearly being restrained by his partner, there was no need for that sort of reaction on his part.

A history of assaulting an officer...

All depends

I dont think we know enough to make judgement calls yet

The piece of shit cop only WISHED the black dude had warrants. Would've been so easy to steal his phone then. This makes me so angry it's unreal. Bastards like this guy are what give cops a bad name. Somebody says something they don't like and they just tear into them. Fuck police like that. "Special needs" or not, no one deserves that. Fucker. Take his badge.

luci

i saw enough in the video to satisfy me. she was restrained and not being combative at all. if he weren't a cop nobody would be questioning it or investigating it, he'd be in jail now.

tazzygirl -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 8:30:36 PM)

Resisting arrest, arguing with a police officer, history of assault, being accused of assaulting another person.....

Miserlou -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 8:57:01 PM)

any of those are valid reasons for a police officer to punch a restrained person in the face? wow! i have been lied to all my life, here i was thinking that l.a. was in america.

Past history certainly matters, especially if it is a violent one. Ever ridden a bus? There are lots of metal bars, and hard plastic seats, and limited ability for innocent passengers to get out of the way, if the crazy, super-plus size lady has herself a "special needs" episode.

I suppose he could have pepper sprayed her instead. I'm sure the other passengers would have loved that.

Duskypearls -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 9:07:20 PM)

And, he put his whole bloody body behind that punch in a way that seemed to be an extreme over-reaction, and not at all appropriate to the situation. Waaaay overkill!

The problem with relying too much upon a past event, or history, he may or may not have been aware of about her, is that he cannot be present to the moment, situation, actions and reactions at hand that occur. He is stuck in the past, and likely to mis-read and over-react to perceived cues/stories that exist only in his head, which makes him fear motivated and dangerous.

Well, that may be the case, but what you saw isn't anything like enough to form a true understanding, or a reasoned opinion.

Agreed, Taz, we simply do not know enough, but as it stands, it does not look good for him. It will be interesting to see if anything comes about him having prior bullying issues. The way he so quickly, violently, and venomously struck like a snake, in such an animalistic way, leaves me inclined to think that might be the case.

tazzygirl -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 9:29:40 PM)

No, but, do watch the video again. Its splitting hairs, but he didnt punch her in the face (a punch to me is a closed fist), he hit her across the face with his elbow.

DivineDemise -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 9:31:42 PM)

I fully agree. Not enough is known for judgement. The viedo doesnt even show the full story only part of it. The cops was called by someone to know this woman was on bus.

tazzygirl -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 9:36:57 PM)

I dont think people are questioning the arrest, just the amount of force used to obtain that arrest.

tazzygirl -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 10:23:46 PM)

You couldnt just stop with... thats your opinion... ?

Miserlou -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 10:26:49 PM)

obviously not. if i did then it wouldn't have expressed what i wanted say. i think he is very much mistaken. like i said before, if he had not been a cop, he would be up in front of a judge posting bail, not "under investigation."
cops don't get a bye, if anything they must be held to an even higher standard than civilians.

in your opinion, which i believe is flawed.

That was a little uncalled for.

Miserlou -> RE: LA Cop Punches Special Needs Woman In The Face On A Bus (1/12/2012 10:28:27 PM)

why? he said as much to me. he can say outright that i am wrong, but i can't say i believe he is?

a strange double standard around here.
