Kink and enjoying aspects of BDSM is extremely common. BDSM as a lifestyle and identified as a personal need, and driving force of self fulfillment and expression of a relationship is a much smaller number. A great example was last night, we were at a party and everyone there identified as kinky on some level. A conversation started about what this means to us, and only a handful said it was a need, and an even smaller percentage of that number said it wasn't just "foreplay" but a primary drive of intimacy. There's nothing wrong anywhere you fall. It's just different ways of being.
