Didn't FOX recently have a few ISSUES with the British government, too?

Jeez, maybe they should worry about something other than ... Jon Stewart ... on Comedy Central!

Hillwilliam (cute name, btw!)

I can "rattle" those names because I also follow their columns. They're all liberals, and I've seen each of them on Fox. Are you suggesting that they lie as well?

Censoring political speech would, in fact, be restricting speech.

What disturbs me is the assumption here that all conservatives lie, or that everyone on Fox lies. What about Alan Combs, Bob Beckel, Joe Jackson, Susan Estridge? None of them are conservatives, and they are on Fox.

Also, if you watch Fox (which of course I do on occasion) you would see that on every segment, there is a liberal as well as a conservative. You don't see this on the other networks. I personally wouldn't call it balanced, but it's more frequent than the mainstream media does it.

For someone who only "on occasion" watches FOX, you sure rattle off a bunch of names from there.

Canada isn't banning political speech. they are banning deliberate lies colored as news.

Political speech can be (and usually is LOL) lies. All you have to do is say "This is a paid announcement in support of Joe Liar for Congress" and you're golden.

Unfortunately, the main mission of FOX has gotten away from news and become primarily "Political Speech". There's a little thing called truth in labeling. I can't sell horsemeat and call it Angus Beef and that's what some of our news stations are trying to do to us.

Just wondering, Tazzy...is there a reason for the sarcastic and condescending tone you're taking with me? I thought I'd been very polite. Perhaps I was mistaken.

Please, dont even try that. You are far from being polite and you very well know it.

I'd say there's an excellent chance they do. Not because they're working for FOX but because they're biased commentators.

Doesn't matter which way one is biased. It's still misleading the public. What ever happened to just reporting the news?

Free speech has not been abolshed which was my point
I am more than well aware we have hate speech laws, however that has been the case since WAY before this particular incident.
IM perfectly fine with that,
When someone says from this incident that Canada has ABOLISHED FREE SPEECH.
its bull.
PLUS a corporation(as yet) does NOT Have the personhood rights that REAL people have
*THANK GOD* altho that might change under the waster we have now

I dont understand why they are all upset that FOX was told "no".

They are still broadcasting into the country.

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:36:05 PM)

Yes, the comment from the very classy and very liberal Alan Colmes that Santorum and his wife brought their dying son home to play with it so the kids would know it was real.

Very charming. That's on your list of apologies, I see.

And please, point out to me where I've been less than polite. Though I'[ve seen plenty of name calling and insults, I haven't once risen to that bait. I'm sure if you look, you'll see I'm right.

tazzygirl -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:37:31 PM)

Have I called you a single name?

Lucylastic -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:40:52 PM)

Must be a cultural thing[8|]
Oh and by that? I mean that, I dont think you know what you are doing has been just as unpleasant.
but hey... thats fine. you will fit right in. perceptions may change but probably not:)
the pity party will have to wait

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:41:50 PM)

And honestly, I don't really care if Fox can send it's waves into Canadian airspace. The question, I thought, was whether Canada's government restricted speech. And the answer is, of course it does. Didn't need ten pages for that :) And there are people who are happy about that, and that's fine too. I couldn't care less, but thought it would be an interesting discussion.

However--the Fox apology that Bachmann did not accept seems to no longer be on your list. By chance, is that because it was not a reference to Fox News but to another Fox? And the one where they apologized for running a "Who Killed Jesus" piece...well, that was Fox Latin, which I don't think you can reasonably affix to what we all recognize as Fox News.

tazzygirl -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:42:42 PM)

Hardly. She insists she has been nothing but polite, yet has entered almost every thread with the preconceived notion about those who post here. Assuming things, in my opinion, has never been polite.

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:43:33 PM)

Well, as I am a conservative, yes, you've been very insulting, but painting with a broad brush usually is. Clearly though, you didn't mean it, so perhaps I'm guilty of looking for offense.

They didn't bring their son home, they brought their son's corpse home.  How is that in any way anything other than sick and demented?

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:45:23 PM)

Well, isn't that interesting! We both believe that the other has been painting with a broad brush and classing each party as thinking all the same!

I wonder what else we might have in common, politically speaking.

tazzygirl -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:45:26 PM)

I see you like to play games. Typical. The Bachmann story is one page over. I am assuming you know how to use a search engine, though you are trying to pretend you dont. I could possibly be wrong, in which case you will find yourself at a severe disadvantage here.

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:48:32 PM)

Just so you know, it's not unusual for families to do a wake with the body at the home. Lots of people don't do it, granted, but two of my family members have been, as has my roommate's family. They are of Hispanic descent, an I'm told it's not unusual at all.

And the suggestion that they "played" with the child was very, very ugly.

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:51:05 PM)

Of course I know how to work a search engine. I merely looked at your list. The fist time, it was right on the first page. The second time, it was not.

Again, I'm not sure why you feel you have to take this tone. It's unpleasant, and again, doesn't do much to further the discussion.

The discussion from your point of view is how we are beating up on conservatives. I happen to like a few myself. What I do not like is people playing the pity card when they do not get the answers they want to hear.

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:55:50 PM)

Oh, and FYI, according to that story, the apology wasn't because Chris Wallace lied, it was because he said something insulting to Michele Bachmann.

Edited for spelling/

Notsweet -> RE: Fox Shut Out of Canada Because of a Law Against Lying During Newscasts (1/14/2012 10:57:28 PM)

I'm not looking for pity. I'm saying that you have been very unpleasant to me, and for no reason that I can identify.
