Icarys -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 12:27:05 AM)

How does Newt pull off a win like that when the day before he had to cancel and event because of low attendance. Diebold to the rescue?

It means we feel they've tried to strip away everything that this country was founded on and they have.

It seemed easy to understand.

It seems to me that the winner of the GOP Sth Carolina primary is .... Obama!

He has just been given a free present of a few more months of Newt the Beaut and Mitt the Ripper tearing each other's throats out, wasting millions on attack ads on each other, each becoming more pointed and strident as they outline the other's faults .... while he sits in the Oval Office, serene above the melee, adding to his war chest. Had Mitt the Ripper won, all that would have been directed Obama's way .....

Obama really ought to send a Thank You note the Republicans of Sth Carolina - he owes them big time! It's not every day you dodge a bullet!

Um, Jim, Newt's affairs and divorces have indeed been public info for fifteen years.  The fact that he proposed an open marriage has AFAIK not been public till now.  The premise of this thread is that his support for open marriage will hurt him more than his cheating and divorces will.

I don't think it's that surprising. Conservatives are supposed to have political-philosophical principles, one of these being 'the family as central unit'. Having affairs shows a failing to keep to the principle; proposing open marriage is trashing the principle altogether.

Your title seems at best premature, no?

From HotAir

A mind-boggling exit poll data point from John Dickerson. I guess that ABC interview with Newt’s ex didn’t work: “Gingrich got the same share of the evangelical vote in SC as Mike Huckabee in 2008. One of them is an ordained minister.”

She was forced to bear the shame and indignity of being the wife of a man who can't be trusted, and being so foolish as to not have seen all the signs beforehand.

Yes, HILLARY CLINTON is quite the idiot.  [:D]

Your presumption is that Bill was cheating and WASN'T in an open relationship.

Of course, that is probably incorrect. If Hilary had any problems, she was plenty rich enough on her own to hire any divorce lawyer she wanted.

If HILARY didn't have any issues with it, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO TAKE OFFENSE?

Of course, your pathetic false equivalence fails given that EVERY ONE OF NEWT'S WIVES DID TAKE OFFENSE.

I've always pointed out that YOU cannot audit any elections, and since you can't they're probably just making up the numbers to support their predetermined result, and not even bothering to look at the vote tallies.

farglebargle -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 5:20:31 AM)

More to the point. Can you trust Gingrich after being thrown out of congress for ethics violations? I mean, HE BROKE HIS OATH OF OFFICE. He can't be trusted again.

Moonhead -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 6:27:47 AM)

He can, though. It's only Clinton who can't, apparently.

THIS...and to put a point on it,while the Republican pretenders are tearing each other apart in Florida President Obama will be doing that act that is most Presidential....delivering the State of The Union address on Tuesday evening.

It's just hilarious reading the comments and political analysis of people who wouldn't vote for anyone with an "R" after their name even if it was proved that they were the second incarnation of Christ, but would vote for anyone with a "D" after their name, even if it were proved that they drank the blood of small babies for breakfast and sacrificed virgins to Baal every Sunday.  [8D][:D]

Newt's done, huh?

slvemike4u -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 8:44:00 AM)

Since I know for a fact that your characterization does not cover me...yeah,he is done. Completely unelectable, character issues up the gazoo, run away ego(yes,I have grandiose thoughts....lol)all he can ,and will accomplish, is to bloody Mitt Romney.
Romney is going to be the Republican candidate.....and the base will be uninspired, but after all is said and done you folks will hold your nose and nominate him...and the American electorate will return Obama to the Oval Office for his second term.

And since Cain went down in a shower of shite, you have been curiously absent.
except for this

you must be SO disapointed
you have my sympathy, but welcome to the hypocrisy

Let's not forget that many/most of those same people claimed a sitting president's repeated adultery in the White House Oval Office was a private matter and repeated perjury to Judges, the DoJ and Congress was not an issue.

slvemike4u -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 9:03:22 AM)

Is this meant to suggest that Newt's serial adultery, marriages, divorces and ethics issues are not fair fodder for discussion ?
Allow me to stop laughing now,my eyes are tearing up....lol.

SilverBoat -> RE: Newt's campaign comes to an end (1/22/2012 10:02:41 AM)

In a post about Gingrich, the serial-adulterer, the corrupt-insider-lobbyist, the booted-by-his-own-party-for-ethics-violations, it's just hilarious seeing how nonsensical some of the rightwingers efforts to blow bullsh*t all over the web can be ...

Here's a much more accurate statement of the case in point:

It's just hilarious reading the comments and political analysis of people who wouldn't vote for anyone with an "D" after their name even if it was proved that they were the second incarnation of Christ, but would vote for anyone with a "R" after their name, even if it were proved that they drank the blood of small babies for breakfast and sacrificed virgins to Baal every Sunday.

Because I'm busy with "real life" and it's really just entertainment to screw with some people on the forum about politics.

I had four "possibles" in the Republican race, if you'll go back and read what I wrote, although I made of point of supporting Cain early.  I found that Cain had my early support for a couple of reasons, the fact that he could tweak so many "lib" dearly held conceits was one.

And then the high-tech lynching started, and it was fun to point that out (who was the "third woman" by the way?  I never did get an answer.)

Disappointed in what?  Politics happen.  Hypocrisy abounds, and more on the "lib" side, than our side, I think.
