REPORT: Warren Buffett's Secretary Makes Between $200,000 and $500,000 Per Year...

Just Bought Second Home...

LIMBAUGH: I want to see HER tax returns...

She pays a high tax rate alright, because she is a 1%er... [:D]

Owner59 -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 4:53:38 PM)

But pays a HIGHER tax rate than he does.

Warren`s own words, btw.

Lucylastic -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 4:54:10 PM)

and as I pointed out to you
the figures are not proven
Forbes doesn have her figures its all questions
but you somehow conveniently forgot to respond to those bits of fact

Sanity -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 4:56:39 PM)

Its simple enough that even Obama should be able to understand it... if she is paying that much in taxes, she has to be very wealthy

In other words she is among the successful who leftists are trained to hate

Lucylastic -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 5:09:01 PM)

I get it now tho sanity you got your little stompy thing removed now you want to make your own thread, well here is what I responded to in your last attempt

"hmmm there is NO figure, Forbes was attempting to guess how much her wages are, so there is no figure.
So far, no one has volunteered this information.

We can get an approximate answer by consulting IRS data on tax rates by adjusted gross income, which would approximate her salary, assuming she does not have significant dividend, interest or capital-gains income (like her boss). I assume Buffett keeps her too busy for her to hold a second job. I also do not know if she is married and filing jointly. If so, it is deceptive for Obama to use her as an example. The higher rate may be due to her husband’s income. So I assume the tax rate Obama refers to is from her own earnings.

Insofar as Buffett (like Mitt Romney) earns income primarily from capital gains, which are taxed at 15 percent (and according to Obama need to be raised for reasons of fairness), we need to determine how much income a taxpayer like Bosanek must earn in order to pay an average tax rate above fifteen percent. This is easy to do.
This is going ONLY On capital gains tax figure amounts.

The IRS publishes detailed tax tables by income level. The latest results are for 2009. They show that taxpayers earning an adjusted gross income between $100,000 and $200,000 pay an average rate of twelve percent. This is below Buffett’s rate; so she must earn more than that. Taxpayers earning adjusted gross incomes of $200,000 to $500,000, pay an average tax rate of nineteen percent. Therefore Buffett must pay Debbie Bosanke a salary above two hundred thousand.

We must wait for further details to learn how much more than $200,000 she earns. The tax tables tell us about average ranges. For all we know she earns closer to a half million each year, but that is pure speculation.

So its all speciulation AGAIN
the smoking gun article says she just bought a house worth 144 000
The Bosaneks paid $144,000 for the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath property (the purchase was financed, in part, by a $115,200 mortgage).
WHy does this assume she makes more than 200,000.
To me, a 115,000 mortgage is not a heavy burden.

as for the Rush quote, well hes just running on steam from the BS he inhales daily
He is as believable as newt gingrich
and a few others
The post is still in the other thread

FR:

Being a 1%er is more a mindset than a salary.Same with any association.

News to the clueless,even Warren Buffet has said the rich should pay more in taxes.

This election is going to be between the forces that killed our economy and ripped us off to the tune of trillions and want to double down and strangle the rest out of us and the folks who want to get back to a system that`s not rigged by the Romneys of the world.

Actually, the moderator was confused about the post and didnt understand the topic or how the post fit into the topic and pulled it in error, for whatever reason. Suggested that I start a new thread, in fact, so here we are.

And despite your protests theres more than enough substance here, or you wouldnt be working so hard to try to play it down

I did that this morning, cutting and pasting responses to the zero facts in your OP took twenty seconds

DomKen -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 5:50:00 PM)

Say she makes 300k why should she pay a higher rate than her boss who makes multiple millions per year?

It's pretty funny how idiots manipulate the /99/1% notion. And I find it pretty amusing how fucking owned some of these so-called masters are in terms of their politics. Your definition is probably the closest to the truth of what OWS/Occupy people have in our view. A 1%er is a state of mind and a view of the culture around themselves.
       If Warren Buffet's secretary isn't using her wealth or potential to make the playing field slant her way or assert any more influence over the legislative process.
  And the truth is, we don't really know that much about her. And it sucks that the FATTEST FUCK of the airwaves feels or wants out of the deal.
     Rush Limbaugh will never be any more honest than the 4 or 5 versions of story he gave florida cops as to reasoning for buying 10s of thousands of oxycontins on the street through his domestic staff (before of course the call came in from the guy they're all hailing in florida today as one of the best governors in the US and the guy most republicans in florida WISH would jump in and be ANYBODYBUTROMNEY<tm> ... telling the cops to back down immediately and let the DA cut a plea bargain). THIS IS THE GUY WHO'S OPINION WE SHOULD GIVE A FUCK ABOUT???
   I'm not real impressed with the opinions of a person who cites him as a legitimate ANYTHING either.
   But that's just me... Or IS it?

She can probably afford the taxes too. Ya think?

servantforuse -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 9:03:31 PM)

I'm happy for her as well. Obama should have the same mindset. Being successful should be rewarded, not punished.

Owner59 -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 9:05:27 PM)

Reward is fine.......special tax breaks for the the Mitt`s of the world.......why?

How in the world is she being "punished"?

servantforuse -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 9:11:00 PM)

Obama has been trying to tax successful people in this country and give money to the less successful since he got in office.

flexiblemike -> RE: Buffets Secretary Is a 1%er (1/26/2012 9:13:13 PM)

lolwut? What is this argument even about? How to successfully be a right wing troll?

What does Buffett's secretary being in the top 1% have to do with anything whatsoever? Even if she is, that has nothing to do with Buffett's comments in his NYT op-ed that launched the current hubbub about the "Buffett rule" ("Stop Coddling the Super-Rich", 8/14/2011, http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/15/opinion/stop-coddling-the-super-rich.html ) where he wrote that "[his] friends and [he] have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress." The original quote:

quote:

Last year my federal tax bill — the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf — was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income — and that’s actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent.

Nowhere has Buffett, to my knowledge, said anything about his secretary until very recently. In this interview from 2007, he mentions his receptionist and a cleaning lady, but not his secretary: http://youtu.be/Cu5B-2LoC4s

I think that Buffett's secretary got picked on by the media and then made into a figurehead for the so-called "Buffett rule", probably because the image of a big important businessman with a female secretary is an easy to recognize cliche. Buffett and his secretary are in fact on record as having been surprised by the sudden interest in her. See this ABC interview: http://youtu.be/zB1FXvYvcaI

So please, don't turn Debbie Bosanek into more of a red herring than she already is. Buffett's comments are clear enough: he feels that he and other ultrarich Americans are not taxed enough, he thinks that capital gains should be increased and/or there should be a national progressive consumption tax, and he doesn't believe that taxing the ultrarich will hurt the economy by lowering their appetite to work. You can disagree with that if you like, but this fetishization of Buffett's secretary--on both the right and the left--is utterly pointless. If indeed you are on the right, then why falling for the left's tactic of focusing attention on one particular person? For all you know, she is not representative of the larger situation.

Why do I bother writing, though? Rational arguments about politics online are as common as three-horned unicorns.

P.S.: Buffett's secretary makes $60K/yr.
