How in the fuck did I manage to do that? I don't think I've ever done that one before. Hehe, I'm gonna leave it as a reminder to myself to keep the humility fires burnin'.

Lithi/Jai's Drinks of Choice...

1) Vodka Sour. Crystal Skull Vodka if you please. But you have to add a lil sugar and sprite to it, or the sour mix is just too much
2) Rainbow Shots...I will run your granny over to drink this.
3) The Jellybean...this is my own personal drink...totally a girl thing...it will smash your brain if you drink more than like 3.
4) Wild Turkey- I am from Kentucky after all. How could I be a self respecting Kentucky Girl if I didn't have some Whiskey on the list?
5) The Father O'Malley...It's a Catholic thing...I refuse to talk about it. Last time I drank it...I needed therapy for a year.

I guess because of the area I live in, where good cheap wines are not plentiful, (in fact GOOD expensive wine is not plentiful) Good being the operative word, that I am mostly left with Blue Nun reisling or occasionally a gewurtztraminer (usually shelved at the local licks by mistake)....and the days of rothschild mouton cadets are as over as christmas.

Reds around here?   some cheap and pedestrian l'ambruscos, nothing to build cellars with.

We have an awesome winery close to where I live. It's called Purple Toad.

Now, I am not so big into wine...but I did check some of this out. Its really kind of nice. Rich, deep reds, very nice. Not sugar sweet, and not that horrible bitter taste some wine has. It is actually something I could sit down and sip with a nice meal and walk away feeling happy about it.

Their whites are nice as well, but I have never really favored white. I like a blush occasionally.

Maybe I can ship you a bottle sometime. It's worth a try.

Oh, yeah, I can live without tannins, my foray into germany has left me with the opinion that Zeller SchwartzKatz is the bomb, as well as the sweet table lambruscos of italy.

Like I said, Rothchilds are unobtainable here anymore, and I couldnt keep them stocked.

I found out this weekend that ice wine is very costly! And very sweet. Two things I didn't know. Is it worth trying, if you are pretty much into dry white, or tough reds?

Ice Wine?!

What is this?

Now I have to go out and buy real wine glasses, like a big kid!

I am going to see if my liquor store carries this. I want to try it.

Did you say that it is better as a red?

No I was wondering if someone like me who PREFERS reds would dig it. It's generally made of riesling varietals, and SUPPOSEDLY the acid cuts the sweetness. I am not averse to dessert wines, and I love berry wines, but the price tag deters me.

Doesn't sound like you'll like it then. I do. Anyone know the ice wine that used Van Gogh's Starry Night on the label? That was YUMMY and reasonably priced.

There was a winery in British Columbia that made wine I thought was called Sipes Ice, but Google has no love :(

Oh, they've rebranded to Summerhill Pyramind Winery: http://www.summerhill.bc.ca/Wines/Ice

WOW, I wonder if my friend paid that much for the bottle!?!

I very much like Alsatian and Austrian Rieslings

I tried a Riesling from Alsace once and as it was nowhere near as sweet as German, never again. Is this typical for Alsatian?

Ahh! Okay.
=)

I am going to have to check and see if I can find or order this. The very idea of a sweeter wine is just so enticing to me.

I do not drink often, but I am sick of drinking the same thing. I would like to find something that would be nice over dinner this summer when I am sitting on the back porch...

Okay, now that I am in over my head in the wine department...can someone that understands what the different..I guess...classifications are?

Like what is a pinot noir?

I'm not -really- a wine virgin, but I haven't been all the way either.

If that makes sense.

So...if we are talking good wine to start off with, just to get a feel for different wines and how they function...is there a site that I can go to? Something to read on?

We have wine tastings here locally, I am going to have to make it a point to go to one now.

The big wine tastings with dozens of varieties are a lot of fun. If you are both into wine, they are also a nice option for a first date. The big ones have munchies too - it's a way to pimp their higher end food.

I will have to find someone to go with, considering I do not know that many people here, which is odd, since I have lived here forever...

There is a local store that has higher end stuff and they have a tasting about once a month.

Ima have to check that one out.

It almost sounds fun.
