Status: offline 		Romney actually declared he is not concerned about the poor.

To be fair, he also said the poor have the safety net and that he would repair it if anybody is falling through the cracks.  Romney also admits the rich are doing just fine and that his concern is for the middle class.

The problem with Romney's thinking is that people have been falling through the cracks of the social safety net for 30+ years.  I have two clients who were recently cut off of welfare because of the arcane welfare laws.  They are now in danger of becoming homeless because of it.  Most of the middle class is 1-2 paychecks away from poverty.

Romney's words also counters the aims of most of the Republican party, which is to do away with the social safety net partly on the false claims that charitable organizations can "do it better".

As to "the false claims that charitable organizations can "do it better", well, there was a time where they did it just fine. But the recipients were not beholden to any political party for their sustenance. Such is not PC, now is it?

And we have the biggest charitable organization that gives food to the poor--The Second Harvest Food Bank--which has been saying that they are finding it difficult to keep up with demand.

Somebody should ask him what he plans to do about all the people from the middle class who have ALREADY fallen through the cracks. They number in the millions.

Course he's getting shitloads from Sachs... Jamie Dimon is taking excellent care of Mitt too... why wouldn't they? He's been their hired wrecking ball for decades.
   Think about how this septic tank back end VC shit works. The banks holding all the real big notes for the first round finance get all freaked ... along comes Bain or a precursor firm and they either strip the company like a stolen car, merge it with something that's on the way up or just works, or bring it into re-org and fire the fuck out of everybody. What I am surprised is that nobody is REALLY taking Mitt with that ugly aspect of his business character.
     Course, maybe they just realize that the Democrats will anyway.

Not being able to keep with increasing demand is not the root problem but the consequence of government policy. Even the best of organization can be stretched into oblivion.

Status: offline 		Well it's all about the votes. The poor and the rich do not need to vote for Romney for him to pull in a win. He only has to convince the middle class. And the middle class do not identify with the poor. Oddly, the middle class are likely to identify with the rich (which is why so many middle class people vote against self-interest and vote Republican).

I think the statement was quite strategic.
