It does from here too, but then again so does Canada. But I understand what they mean. My best friend, when I lived there, was born there and loved to rant about snow birds. If I wanted to get her worked up, I would ask her if she wanted to run over to WDW and worship the mouse with me.

I apologize, I tend to have trouble accurately assessing the extent to which I need to walk people through things for them to make the connections. Let me know if this is straight forward enough.

There are multiple definitions for the word moron, an obsolete historical definition and a modern definition in common use. Therefore, unless you're under the impression that JstAnotherSub or I are communicating with you via time machine it makes sense to conclude that we're using the current and not the obsolete definition of that word. As such I  posted a particular example of the well documented negative correlation between religiosity and intelligence. Hence my posting of the studies abstract wasn't an endeavor to "avoid explaining the correlation" but of one to directly illuminate said correlation.

That correlation is a reflection of some high IQ people being spiritually handicapped. The mind is like a see-saw: because of this severe mental handicap more nerve cells can be utilized for thinking quickly, resulting in a relatively high IQ. Just like blind people often have their other senses well developed. And just like idiot savants sometimes excel in a particular mental activity. So it isn't because people have a high IQ that they have less religiosity, but instead the reverse is true: they are therefore very much like idiot savants - and like them completely oblivious to the mental faculty which they lack.

Well, my usage was quite evident as within the obsolete definition. I did so by choice. Your deficiency in comprehending that is not my problem.

I'm glad you're not a moron. I actually really didn't think you were, but on occasion I have been known to be wrong so thought it best to ask. And no, neither am I.

Posted in relation to your earlier statement Certainly not all christans are morons but you can't blame people for noticing the correlation.  Which, by your own admission of modern usage, was pejorative and not indicative of intelligence.

Incorrect, while a modern usage does exist which uncouples the term from any value judgment concerning intelligence said usage is demonstrably contextually inappropriate ergo it's undeniably not the definition I've been using.

Your evident confusion on this is what caused me to point to your own link and to multiple definitions of the word moron in the first place.

Let me try again. While the term was historically constricted to a specific numeric set it has since been abused by the rest of society to the extent that it now amorphously applies to a larger numeric set.

As I am not familiar with the Steelian language, I cannot dispute the truth value of your claim. But I do think it would be helpful if you would give a reader some indication when you intend the Steelish meaning of a word rather than the meaning of its English counterpart.

With regard to the historical meaning of "idiot":

There's a rather famous quote from Macbeth that predates Binet's 'intelligence' tests by about 300 years or so, eh?
And the etymology of "idiot" extends back through French and Latin to ancient Greek (ἰδιώτης, idiōtēs), with meanings
that aren't grossly dissimilar from its often perjorative usage in modern languages.
 
Reasonable people could certainly parse the various academic and legalistic definitions of "idiot" as rather narrow.
And people with certain sorts of idiocy might insist that those definitions invalidate the others, historically, colloquially, etc.

YMMV, of course, but perhaps Freud's definition of "id" would be more apropos for identifying "idiots."

I'm using definitions straight out of dictionaries if you'll go back and look. I suspect that some of the problem you have with comprehension would be solved simply by actually reading what I'm writing.

You claimed that there exists in English a "modern usage" of the word moron that implies "no value judgment concerning intelligence." However, the only support you offered for this claim was a single entry that someone deficient in English posted to the "open-content" Wiktionary, which is by NO standard an authoritative source on English usage, or even a credible dictionary. To wit:

a stupid person; a dolt ~American Heritage
a foolish or stupid person ~Collins
an insulting word for someone who behaves in a stupid way ~MacMillan
a person affected with mild mental retardation: a very stupid person ~Merriam-Webster
a very foolish or stupid person ~Webster's New World College
a stupid person ~Cambridge

So your claim to the contrary notwithstanding, there is no currently accepted use of the word moron which does not convey a lack of intelligence. And if you remain unconvinced, I am sure you will find that a practical application of scientific method will erase all your doubts.
