i'm new 2 this lifestyle and sort of lost and was wondering how sum1 finds a mentor to help with learning the ropes.  i have read some incredible books on the subject but feel as sum1 with real life experience may be of more help then a book

As the official Collarchat mentor I order you to never use the words 2 and sum 1.
Real words don't have numbers in them, on them or around them.

Google BDSM and your state.  You could also google BDSM munches and your state.  You could also go to the FAQs here to get a link to BDSM munches, groups, meets, and events in your state.  Then go attend a munch or several if there are more than one close by.  Make friends.  Watch the people.  Figure out which people you admire.  Then ask one of them if he/she would mentor you.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

Get out from behind the computer and into real life munches/events etc. Find someone that is on the same side of the slash so to speak that you get on with, and learn from them :D

Joe. This is not a telephone. Don't use tx spk. It make peoples eyes cross.

You cannot appreciate how difficult it is to read all of what you wrote.

And in fact, I didn't.

You were given excellent advice, why are you whining?

Some of it was excellent advice most of it was people complaining about how I write, rudely. I work in the entertainment business and have a high profile job that requires a lot of contact with people via Twitter that only gives a person 140 characters to say what they need to say.  I now natrually write everywhere in "twitter speak".  Amazing that people take offense to such trivial things.

why would you think people would be friendly? and actually- I didnt see anyone being mean so what on earth are you going on about? Do you live in a house of cotton balls or something?

And if you just want to tell everyone to fuck off because someone corrected your spelling ... you need to build a thicker skin to deal in forums.. any forum in fact.

That was excellent advice too, albeit unsolicited.

First whining now excuses?  I'm beginning to see why you're having difficulty finding a "mentor".

I'll take the advice about the real life contact with people and leave the forum to the grammar police.  Thanks.

If I am treated with disrespect right away...I'm not sure what you expect back.  My first response was someone "ordering" me how to type, I don't take orders.  I take advice.

Oh I am sorry, I didn't view my giving you advice that you asked for, politely and nicely as "disrespect".

Way to isolate yourself. Maybe along with being snarky and rude you need to look at being polite to the people that tried to help you.

It's just a shame that it had to be pointed out that people DID try to help you before you went for the polite option.
If you always address the negatives in life first it will come accross.
