Well, for what it's worth: I ain't joking when I say I guns are a downer for me. A woman being a gun-nut would put me off her in the same way as discovering that she's afflicted with chronic and severe halitosis. It's that visceral, that much of a gut reaction. I've never really thought much about rifles, to be honest. I suppose I associate those mostly with hunting, wars, or defence against large predators.

I've come round to the idea that it's not, possibly, unreasonable to own a firearm and be keen to be well-practised in its use, for either sex, in the USA. But, to me, they're still bloody ugly things and overt fascination with them makes me cringe. They could never be 'sexy' for me - quite the opposite.

Sexy, no. Powerful and deadly, yes. I don't own any guns (aside from my airsoft target pistol which shoots little plastic pellets!) and I don't intend to own any guns, I have no use for them and I can't see straight anyway. But having control over a dangerous object, knowing what its capabilities are, that I enjoy. It's physically difficult to shoot, those things kick back at you (science!) and I enjoyed that. I rarely get to indulge, I'll never be good, but I appreciate destructive things.

I still gasp and cover my eyes when I see shooting on tv. I doubt I will ever be desensitized to violent gunfire. But shooting at a target, in a controlled environment? Blowing up large vegetables? Thrilling fun.

Well, I'm not a lesbian or bi (...I don't think) but I was going to comment anyway since I can certainly enjoy a sexy scene with a sexy women but, nope..they didn't cut it for me.

I imagine a woman with a gun with jeans and hiking boots, a white tank top, and she's somewhat muddy and dirty because...you know...she's not a pussy like these girls with the bikinis and the frilly tops.

I like guns...and I like men with guns...and I like men who like women who like guns.

maybe it's a American/ British thing,like peon I don't find guns sexy either, they are used to kill or threaten or defend, not sexy.
and the gun/sex combo is usually a bloke raping a girl at gunpoint.....also not sexy.

Yeah...if I were to get hot and bothered over a woman with a gun, she needs to be more the feminine equivalent of Rambo.

So many of my friends are hunters, ex-military, or both... and it's all about the long guns, for the most part, and filling the freezer for the winter.

Yes. That's why I cringe when I see people shot on tv, and why we are so vehement about not letting the 8 yr old grandson have any first-person shooter games. Thug life is not the glamourous life. War is ugly.

The desire to own the things has become very visceral here, though, because so many of our civil liberties have been taken from us, gradually or by force of law. I will never own a real gun (though I think my dad still has an antique cowboy gun, and we have target shooters) but I do support the rights of my fellow citizens to own them.

With background checks necessary for purchase. And permits. And mandatory safety classes, and maybe bringing the things in for registration every other year...

TBH, I think you're wasting your time, HCM. It's a cultural-divide thing. This is one of those issues on which different cultures just walk away from each other in bafflement and disgust.

Guns, to me, are like snot. Maybe necessary, but always something that I'd rather not think about.

Hey ho. It's possible that one day I'd learn to love a woman who gets turned on by guns or by snot, but not very likely.
