Yeah!

Now, they can get married and then divorced and lose half their stuff like the rest of us.[8D]

Very true.

Of course, my friends could already get married here in New York.

Still the Supreme Court to go... but I'm hopeful.  I said it before and I'll say it again:  this is playing out just like the suffarage issue.  A state here, a state there... enough chinks in the wall and the whole thing come crumbling down.

I have friends that have been together for 27 years. They got married during the brief window when CA was allowing the marriages to happen. I'm so happy for them.

Well good!

Though, for some reason, my best friend owes her former partner $20 K, though they didn't get married. Long story. Unreasonable. IT'S HER HOUSE !!! But, get a lawyer involved and who knows what can happen.

I like that Owner....that is so cool.

TheHeretic -> RE: CA Prop 8 ruled as unconstitutional! (2/7/2012 5:59:59 PM)

It's not over yet. This one goes all the way to the Supreme Court, and this case may make another stop at the full 9th Circus, before that. This was a 3 judge panel that split 2-1.

Then, of course, we still have the social side of it to deal with. There are plenty of gay-bashing, bigoted, homophobic punks on the Democrat side that need to dragged into the light. Anytime Prop 8 comes up, I do feel the need to remind people that it passed in California on the same ballot that gave California's electoral votes to President Obama.

It will certainly be a happy day for the divorce lawyers when it goes through.

Is bigotry and homophobia an exclusive Democratic sort of thing?
Reading your post just might leave someone with that impression

That depends on who you ask. There are several posters on cm who seem to think it is exclusively a republican sort of thing. My guess is that is why he posted that.

My guess is you know better than that, but I have been wrong before....

Well then you and dick can give us some examples of bigotry in the democratic party...... to prove it isn`t lopsided.

dick has "plenty" of examples....

Sorry 59, Not in the mood to dig up your old posts right now. Maybe later if I am bored.

It's at least as common as noodle swinging liberals who voted for Bush II twice. [8|]

I just wish it would get to FL. I have a great uncle who has lived with his partner for 45+ years. I'd like to see those gentlemen have the option......

That would be nice, but as long as the states have control, I am not sure it will happen. Of course I understand why Obama would leave it up to them. They did such a stand up job when they were in charge of civil rights.
