FirmhandKY -> Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 5:42:18 AM)

Rand Paul To Obama:

"I have a question, a question for the president: Do you hate all rich people, or just rich people who don't contribute to your campaign?" Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said at CPAC today.

Does anyone serious doubt the answer to that question? [8D]

I don't know, you'd have to clear up your question first.

DarkSteven -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 5:54:38 AM)

What a childish question.  Laws are passed, and some people benefit and others are detrimented.  Implying that hatred forms the basis for so doing is ridiculous.

I wouldn't say there is hatred forming around that either. Obviously those who won't contribute to the campaign are not the target audience, so why would somebody waste their energy?

I think it goes both ways, and not just for Obama.

I thought Paul asked the question based on things Obama has said, not necessarily the laws that have been passed. But I would need more background to be sure.

You know, for a smart guy, there are times...........

Has it occurred to you that Obama IS a rich person?

servantforuse -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 8:29:03 AM)

He seems to like rich people that are willing to give him campaign money. George Soros and Warren Buffet are two that come to mind.

mnottertail -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 8:32:54 AM)

I don't see him hating on rich people, W comes immediately to mind....

Owner59 -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 8:53:45 AM)

Rand is such a pip-squeak.......Nothing like his dad.....

Talk about class warfare........naked without even a hint of restraint.

Why do you cons always come out with verbs like hate to describe the natural anger that most folks feel toward the 1% who fucked us and our economy three years ago?

Kids like Rand(he is a bit naive and kid-like,so are most Ts) are still probably stuck in a pre-'08' mindset and don`t realize that it will NEVER be like it was.

I guess rand thinks we should be thanking them for their efforts at fucking us?

The senator seems to be irritated of Obama rich vs poor rhetoric. I do not think any president in absolute dollar terms has passed more public money to the rich compared to Obama. Obama is a master of propaganda. It is the divide and conquer tactic: avoid dealing with real issues, blame the rich. I think, in this regard the OWS movement is also misguided (1% vs 99%). There will not be a simple re-distribution of wealth. Just a lot of noise with no results. The real, constructive ideas get lost, the status quo and misery for increasing number of people extended.

Agreed.

popeye1250 -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 11:33:26 AM)

I don't hate rich people per se but I do "hate" it when they influence our govt. and laws using their riches like for all those rotten "free-trade" deals.
Now *everyone* should be angry about things like that.
If that isn't corruption with a good part of graft thrown in.....
There (is) one group that I do hate though and that's lobbyists. They are the lowest of the low.
They "assist" foreign countries in stealing our Tax Dollars for,....."foreign aid" for which they make tens of millions of dollars.
I don't know why *our government* doesn't outlaw them. The only "lobbyists" there should be are the American People!
A congressman or senator should be totally fixated on what their *constituents* want done not *special interests*.
Taking any money or favors from lobbyists is bribery.
Take a ride through the Washington, D.C. suburbs sometime especially the Virginia suburbs and get a look at the palaces they live in and what's parked in their driveways all paid for with stolen Tax Dollars!. It's sickening.
One part of "Sharia law" that I think we should adopt is the stoning part for *scumbags* like lobbyists.
There's not a hell of a lot of difference between a rapist or theif and a lobbyist.
The worst Secretary of State we ever had is now a lobbyist for China. Of course they don't want that kind of thing "out in the open."
I really do think that Thomas Jefferson was right about that "every twenty years" thing.
One thing is for sure, this current govt. is out of control.

gman992 -> RE: Do you hate rich people? (2/10/2012 11:50:13 AM)

I don't hate rich people...in fact, we should be encouraging people to be rich...what I do hate are rich-politicians--the kennedys/the kerrys--pretending to be for the middle class when they hide their taxes with loopholes when they vote to raise their own taxes. And, I always hate rich politicians pandering down to me that I need their help--through raising taxes which ultimately leads to higher unemployment. And I also hate rich politicians who encourage people to be lazy and collect "benefits" when they should be encouraging them to succeed in their own American dream. And I especially hate rich people like Jay-Z who claim to like poor people when he shuts down the entire wing of a hospital just because he wants to see his own child and not allow others to see theirs. And, I especially hate rich people like Jay-Z who prints and sell "Occupy" T-shirts without donating any of the profits to the people he claims to represent. And I despise rich politicians who claim they are for the middle class when they bail out rich banks, Wall Street, and their union buddies at the expense of real "working" people. Do I need go on?

Really? Then perhaps you can show us what Obama said that lead you to such a conclusion. I really don't remember statements like that at all.

Did you learn that the same place you learned about the 12,000 American troops that are in Libya?

You do realize that wealthy people, mostly men, have been 'influencing' our government since our country's inception don't you?

You mean the 12,000 troops that hid in Malta first, a country with a population of less than 400,000?
