Think about it, if it doesn't hurt you too much to do so: A direct strike across the cheeks directs the full force straight up the spine. You don't have to hit the coccyx to cause microfractures in it.

But hey, go right ahead. I was only pointing out that the ad for bdsm movies on collarme showed people doing it wrong and you're right, you don't have to believe me. Your problem, not mine.

I looked up DaddyMcSpanks, actually. I could probably put you in touch, if you'd like to ask him about the sources of his information. He doesn't identify himself as a sex educator, much less someone who has been to medical school. He seems like a good guy, but he has no particular reputation as an educator. He's probably fine - again, he seems decent - but you really can't hold him up as a medical expert because he's taught classes on spanking.

Medical misinformation is really common in the community, actually.

I have literally never heard of an injury happening the way you describe. It's not impossible, I suppose, but it doesn't jive with my understanding of the way the body works. As someone who has been paddled (hard, by a pro athlete) and caned in the way that you're describing, I've never even felt any discomfort in my tailbone.

I have never encountered medical literature suggesting that the coccyx could be fractured by anything other that direct impact. If the literature is out there, I want to know about it. But it isn't enough for me to hear that some guy who taught a few spanking classes said that It Is So. I do my research and let myself and my bottoms make informed choices about potential risks. That's what responsibility means. The health of my partners is too important to trust unsupported, third-hand information.

heh...I just healed from a badly bruised tailbone from a fall down a flight of stairs. I do this at least once a year because I'm extremely clumsy. I've had sciatica from being pregnant. Guess what? I'm still alive and doing quite well with no ill side effects and I've been hit caned so hard in the past that I was bleeding and bruised and no tailbone problems. Even if it did happen, so what? I'll heal.

Now if you're the type that worries about getting hurt and having to take time to heal then don't do it, heed every single warning out there. I would just advice that type of person not to play with a sadist. <shrug>

Are you just accepting the Spankmaster General's word on the matter or did he produce something other than his steadfast opinion in order to turn you into some pervy Paul Revere, riding through BDSM websites to save us all from the horrors inherent in dual-cheek spankings?

If you're going to run around calling something unsafe, it's a good plan to have some proof other than second-hand opinions from one nobody, repeated by another.

Anatomy Lesson (as I understand things):
Usually, most of the buttocks area is very well padded.
The fullest part is not near the coccyx and that area is where one is generally aiming for, unless it is the "sweet spot" and that is at the bottom of the buttocks.

I think as long as you stay away from the lower spine itself and there is padding that generally the whole causine spinal injury; microfracture thing just isn't much of a concern provided you know what you are doing.

Of course if you don't have padding, have a disease process that makes your bones more fragile or have a spinal issue then of course you would want the person caning or paddling you to be especially mindful if that is something you agree to.

Physical limits should always be discussed before negotiating play.

I think the cane would have to be attached to the bumper of a car for it to have anything close to the effects in the Spanking Svengali's warning.
