edited to add. I think it is sad that so many people would judge someone else by the number of friends they have on their profile. You don't know squat about the person and to come here put them down for it seem extremely judgmental and small minded.

lol When someone i dont know and never interacted with sends me a friend request and I see a long list of friends on his profile.. yeah,.. I'm gonna make a judgement call..

Everything you do on this site reflects who you are, from your profile name to your profile, your pics and your posts on here.. it gives people an impression of you.. the number of friends you have is also part of it.. Everyone does that, regardless of how they try to say they dont..

When someone I don't know asks me to add them to my friends, I wonder about them as well. But that doesn't mean I judge everyone who has a long list of friends the same way. As Dark Steven pointed out, there are several reasons for that. One of which is that they do have a lot of friends. To assume that they are immature or desperate because of the list is being judgmental to me. YMMV

The friends list is just one aspect to me, it doesnt form my entire impression of a person.. usually it doesnt make a difference (unless its super long).. how long someone has been on the site can mean more to me than the number of friends they have..

of course, there are some people that are immature and desperate.. lol

length o ftime onsite has never even hit my radar for folks I have any interest in. If I am interested in them, it has nothing to do with how long they have beenhere. It's about how they present themselves, and how we click.

god knows there are umpteen folks who have been on CM for ages and have never posted until recently (check the intro thread for folks being called out on that!).

*repeats my initial posting on this thread*

The length of time can be an indication or a verification (at times).. for instance,.. a 50something guy that sends an email telling me about his beautiful house on the lake, his boat, that he is successful blah blah blah and he has been on the site for 10 or 12 years.. imo he is looking for a trophy sub.. and there is frequent sub turnover with him when he gets bored of you.. thanks but no thanks.. That kinda thing is what i mean..

it says when they joined on their profile and i have seen people that have been on here that long.. you joined 2007.. you have been here 5 years.. that is how i get that..

How I view someones profile depends on how i see them, are they a forum poster/friend type or a possible boyfriend type? It doesnt matter to me how long a forum poster/friend type has been on here.. but.. a possible boyfriend type, if he has been on here (or any dating site) for 10 years (or a long time).. then i have to ask myself why.. In SoCal, there are a lot of guys that own their own house, live alone and never ever want a live-in girlfriend.. so I like to avoid the permanent bachelor types..

I guess that is one possible interpretation.  Might be they are as picky as the women, might be they've had a go or two over the years some long term maybe, didnt work out.

There are as many reasons as there are assumptions, and that is in and of itself neither here nor there.

That was pretty wishywashy, hah?

I do tend to ask about previous relationships also, how long, why they didnt last, etc.. but if a guy has been on here 10 years.. I dunno.. I look at the probabilities too, if he hasnt found someone that lasted very long in that time, chances are pretty good i wont last with him either..

maybe he gets bored easily, isnt really looking for long term, he is difficult for some reason (perhaps drinking too much, etc), perhaps he is impossible to please, a workaholic, maybe he lives in the sticks (someplace few women want to be).. there could be a lot of different reasons why a guy is single a very long time.. I know someone that has been single for 6 years,.. but he has kids that live with him 4 days every week.. that situation is different imo.. so it just depends on a lot of factors..

and no, not a bat outta hell.. i am looking for compatibility, something that lasts.. hard to find him..

yeah, but my requirements are a little difficult.. i want someone that is ok with moving out of the US and living in a tropical paradise with me.. that reduces the numbers considerably..

Not every man thinks (I know, we are vain as well) they look studly in a comb-over and onionskins...........

Some of us gotta go the pleated dockers route after being on here 10-12 years or so.

Maybe thats where the fail is, dunno.

Friends are ok with me,

Admirers, are what i hate, coz they dont ask you first....??!!
but they are not visible to the visitor, thank God

I kind of wish there was an admirers like list that didn't show to other people. I use it to note profiles either I might have some small chance of messaging, or ones that just interested me enough that I might want to check out again for journal entries/profile edits.

I like that feature, I only have half a dozen or so folks on it, but it's very handing for finding the people I correspond with the most! The people that add ME, well... I got nothing. Most of them I have never spoken to. I don't mind having them there, though, why not? Proof that someone noticed my virtual existence.

So THERE I have deleted some people from my massive list! But not the dead people, and not the ones I am still friends with. Sentiment rules, in some instances.

I wonder what happened to that sweet Scotsman who was supposed to hook up with someone a few years back. He hasn't been on the site under that name, naturally I am hoping for a happily ever after.

Click on their little face or name, and the option is right there, "remove from friends".

I am faintly miffed that a certain Mr Melby is not on my list of Those Who Want Hot Hib Action.

Perhaps it's the teeth, and their sharpness.
