See? That's the thing, it also allows for government officials to review a woman's medical records to "ensure the law is being followed by the medical provider." Bullshit. I don't want Big Brother being able to review my medical records or those of any other person, male or female because it smacks of McCarthy-ism.

This law wants to cut out the sono.

A-HAH!!!
I suspected there was a miscommunication.
The law doesn't want to cut out the sonogram. The law in question has nothing to do with preventing any sonogram.

The law in question says that if a doctor has already done everything he medically needs to do, a woman needs an additional procedure, an invasive procedure, that the doctor has not asked for.
If a doctor determined that I had a prostate problem, and some legislator decided "no no no, any diagnosis of this type needs an extra prostate exam," I'd shove my fist up that lawmaker's colon to the armpit. So I have complete sympathy for women seeing the same sort of issue.
So again, the question, how do you feel about lawmakers legislating an extra, vaginal penetration sonogram, for no reason other than to punish women for getting abortions?

the benifits of the procedure are should be explained to you when you sign the informed consent. There is no medical benefit to having your girlfreinds boobs enlarged a few sizes but she will still have to sign a informed consent form before they start cutting http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-resources/legal-topics/patient-physician-relationship-topics/informed-consent.page

so now that thats cleared up, how many pelvic exams have you actually had?

In cases where a normal pelvic exam turns up potential issues, they order additional diagnostics. Easy Peasy.

So. . . a "normal pelvic exam" is NOT rape, but a vaginal transducer is.

What color is the sky on your world?

Do you even know what a pelvic exam entails?

INFORMED CONSENT. Which, for a procedure without any medical benefit, is impossible to give.

To improve self esteem
To replace a breast removed because of cancer
To correct asymmetry or deformities of breasts
To build self confidence about their bodies

Looks like benefits to me.

those are benefits if that is why you are doing it.

the point is medical benefits has nothing to do with informed consent. Now they do have to explain what benefits or downfalls there might be in a procedure, but again that is not the purpose. they just want to make sure the patient consents with full knowledge of what is going to happen.

so now are you going to answer the question how many pelvic exams have you had?

Jon Stewart compares the Virginia proposal to elements from A Clockwork Orange (after the gay marriage bit.)

http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/tue-february-21-2012-russ-feingold

He also points out how the VA governor finds TSA pat downs intrusive...but apparently not vaginal probes.

And how the sponsor of the bill found government mandates of HPV vaccines intrusive...but apparently not vaginal probes.
