The subject word was used in someones introductory post which prompted me to write.

There's something about the word minion which I find a little bit creepy maybe a bit demented but also a bit appealing at the same time. Again, humans are weird fucks for sure. No offense to any actual humans out there.

Minion - relentless in the service of its master.

Does this sound like something that is better left to part-time role play or do you believe that someone can get into that state of being where their service would be relentless? To me that reads service to the point of destruction but that's only if taken to an extreme and if it's part-time role-play then that does not seem to meet the definition of relentless. It doesn't seem to me that relentless is something you can turn off and on and once the weekend is over, just go back to 'not' being a minion.

I'm conflicted and intrigued and just twisted enough to wonder how I could make myself a minion.

Questions:

Minions:

Pro? Con?

Disposal? (hmm..)

Thoughts?

It's always kinda been a nefarious word, to me - relentless in service ... to do bad things. :p
Though there are folks around here who like to use the term in a playful way for their circle of friends/play-partners, it always kinda sounded creepy to me, because of the evil-doer undertone. :p

I'm not sure what your questions are asking?
"Relentless" means "unyielding in harshness, sctrictness or severity," or "showing or promising no abatement in severity, intensity, strength, or pace," depending on what online dictionary you use. :p to me, thaat sounds like a burn-out situation.

But I suppose you could think of it as a mental state - that the service to the Master never leaves the mind, but if the desire to serve is this "severe, unyielding force," it sounds like mental burn-out, too. :p like a feverish obsession that's so strong, you can't think of, or care about, anything else, even to the point of your own obliteration. :p

It doesn't sound like anything i'd want to become - no matter how strong my drive to serve can be, I guess the negative connotations of "minion" are too strong for me to get around. :p

The tales of the fida’is’ training collected from anti-Ismaili historians and orientalists writers were confounded and compiled in Marco Polo's account, in which he described a "secret garden of paradise".[Daftary 10] After being drugged, the Ismaili devotees were said be taken to a paradise-like garden filled with attractive young maidens and beautiful plants in which these fida’is would awaken. Here, they were told by an "old" man that they were witnessing their place in Paradise and that should they wish to return to this garden permanently, they must serve the Nizari cause.[10] So went the tale of the "Old Man in the Mountain", assembled by Marco Polo and accepted by Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall, an 18th century Austrian orientalist writer responsible for much of the spread of this legend. Until the 1930s, von Hammer's retelling of the Assassin legends served as the standard account of the Nizaris across Europe.

I always get confused when I hear this word because its homophone is "minyan", which is the quorum necessary to begin Jewish worship services.

For me, it can't function part-time. It's all or nothing.
Not so much to the point of destruction, but more towards a 'destruction' of the ego.
The intent to destroy my ego has to be there from the start. If it's not 'there', nothing will happen.

Relentless to me means: i won't quit.

If it's inside a person, it will come out. But in my experience it needs a trigger.

To me, being willing to entertain a 'new' idea or concept often already indicates that it's in me, somewhere deep down. I'm good with that.

I love love LOVE the word 'minion' and while I've known of the word for quite a few decades, it just recently entered my vocabulary because of........I should hang my head in shame but I won't, I am a shameless animated kid's movie lover!!!!.............'Despicable Me'!

I don't have any sort of negative affiliation with the word. It's charming and cute.

The only negativity that could possible be, for me, is in who I view the person is a minion to. Because for me, it's a sort of blind devotion. The minion appears to see the one they are devoted to in a rather unrealistic light, for whatever reason. And also view the world and those in it, through that person's filters. Almost a reverent following, a touch beyond individual reason. Minions tend to be rather easily influenced by certain types it seems.

It that light, I don't think I want any minions. I rather like being surrounded by independently thinking intelligent people that challenge me on my forays into bullshit.

That's instantly where my head went, too. I don't find it charming and cute though. I find it ridiculous and ego-tastic.

I jokingly call people minions all the time. And I loved Despicable Me, too, LadyT. I thought I would never stop laughing

It's a word and a concept that I can only think of in a tongue in cheek sort of way.
Love Despicable Me! But, you know a minion sounds like
they're up to no good and serving a nasty character.

Yes but a plusion is too much like a pussion. Who wants a little puss filled creature following them around?

(of course this might not be the best place to to ask that........)
