Hello Hallittlelolita, First off, piercing any part of the flesh is painful. How our mind registers pain on a scale of 1 to 10 solely depends on the individual's capacity / threshold for pain. Either way, it will hurt. But like all degrees of pain, it will get better. The first couple of days after a piercing is the worst . . . the flesh is trying to recover and becomes extreemly tender. After-care during this time is what will determine how well it heals. In a previous post, i wrote aftercare instructions that i live by. However, all piercers recommend what works best for them individually. i can say that out of the piercings i've done, i have yet for anyone to come back to me with an infected piercing. Somthing to consider. i've had many areas of my body pierced (both nipples, navel, tongue and hood); after-care was done differently in each. The way my body heals using my method, i've brought "expected" heal times to less than half. The choice is yours on how you decide to do it - salt water is not necessary or recommended for a vaginal pierce. First and foremost, if it were me, i would get my navel done. The navel is a very gratafying piercing because you can show it off and the location is easy to heal if you wear hip-hugger jeans. THE KEY FOR THE NAVEL IS TO BE SURE NO ITEM OF CLOTHING IS CONSTRICTING IT!! Further, it is good for a first pierce because it is not nearly as tender as the nipples and is easy to get to for cleaning. The navel is a good area to start with not only for pain analysis but for care technique as well. If you can handle it, you can handle your nipples. If you have any more questions, let me know - we can take this to mail if you prefer. Good luck and let me know how it goes! :)auralise
