Don't Speak Ill of the Recently Departed, unless the Recently Departed Spoke Ill of the the Recently Departed

Breitbart did not afford the customary courtesy due the dead when Sen. Ted Kennedy passed away:

Andrew Breitbart, a Washington Times columnist who oversees Breitbart.com and BigHollywood.com, tapped into the anti-Kennedy vein in the hours after the senator’s death was announced, posting a series of Twitter messages in which he called Kennedy a “villain,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.”

His actions then were just as disgusting and classless as the actions of some posters on here now.

Said posters are being paid to broadcast their comments to a mass audience, are they?

No. But, classless is classless, regardless of venue.

BTW - Forgive my being short... but I've been at 4100 ft with a bunch of semi in control scouts watching them ski off boulders and camping in what's probably the coldest spot on the east coast all weekend and I'm only now bringing full circulation back in the tropical winds of a car heater

Moonhead -> RE: Brierbart dies of a heart attack ? (3/4/2012 9:28:41 AM)

I disagree. If somebody is being paid to show a lack of classless to endear himself to a classless mass audience, then he has even less class than somebody who's classlessness is delivered pro bono.
(I'd also point out that nothing that's been said against Breitbart in this thread is even half as vile as his comments about Kennedy croaking.)

I wasn't on this site when that thread was going, so I really don't have any personal stake in it. However, I find anyone who celebrates the death of another individual to be classless and disgusting, no matter their political affiliation.

Whatever, reading THE WHOLE of this thread and then the link explains what happened. I'm cool if you either can't or won't figure it out.
I just mainly want to make sure the actual history of what happened doesn't get buried under commentary from someone who won't do the legwork.
But I'm cool with the idea you can come in here take few pokes at Teddy "in an effort to show us what <you >won't stoop to"[:D]

You really didn't read what I wrote, did you? I gave my opinion on Ted Kennedy in order to underline where I stood on his politics, but also very clearly said that celebrating his death was just as disgusting as celebrating Breitbart's. I have also said, very clearly that whether you agree or disagree with someone's politics, it is classless and disgusting to make comments such as what one poster said about being glad that Breitbart's children could finally be free of him.

Is it so hard to understand that there can be people who don't celebrate the death of a political personality?

Hey, long as you don't mind being told when you perhaps should have read up on something, I'm not especially concerned about what rulebook you follow.
But just so you know, I worked at the company that first made this protocol that shows you all these pretty pictures and words accessible to you (well from home anyway ), test-driving a thing called the shiva PPP protocol.
And at no time before or after did anyone drop off a 'rulebook' ... but if you say one exists, I guess we'll pretend one does.
In the meantime, how about you get together with all the other cons and put your money where your mouth is and kick out your vulgar Limbaugh from the party and radio (in a commercial sense)? In as much as most of us don't even enjoy the luxury of hearing fatso's thoughts due to his ARMY of REGURGITATERS who haven't left most of us alone with their talking points and unapologetic "explanations" for the continual vulgarity and attempts to foment everything just this side of a riot (see- 'operation chaos').... It MIGHT behoove your crowd to take a few important first steps toward reconciliation before you go YET AGAIN telling us we have a problem.

First, did you REALLY not understand the sarcasm behind my "rules of the internet" comment?

Second, thanks for the work history lesson there. Not sure why that matters, but good to know I suppose.

Finally, I'm not sure why you think I have any say, pull, or influence over what other conservatives do. Nor do I understand why you think that being conservative means I support or condone the actions of all other conservatives. I don't think I've regurgitated a single thing Limbaugh has said, nor apologized for him at all. So, your rant really should be directed elsewhere as it certainly doesn't apply to me.

It doesn't. You're welcome anyway.

If ya can't police your own subculture or lack the motivation to or whatever the problem is... why bother other people.
If you have no voice there, why feel entitled to one here.
The reality is that the RNC has a wonderful site and if my clan had facilities like that, and we were burdened by a Rush Limbaugh, I would certainly be on there making my points about 'human decency' there first.
But we welcome you here.. probably a bit more than you would be going up against their hate machine. We're just not going to kiss your ass. I hope that's cool with you.

If you think I was being smarmy, then you missed the post my comment was in response to. But, I shouldn't really hold that against you. I was responding in king to fargle for his post, and you did the same to me. Tit for tat I guess.

And, for the record, I do police my own side and subculture. Be that the conservative subculture or the gay subculture (or, smaller yet, the gay conservative subculture), I do whatever I can to return civility and rational discussion to political debates. Am I always successful? No, not by a long shot. But, that doesn't mean I don't try.

And, finally, I don't want anyone to kiss my ass. I just want to be judged based on what I actually say, not on the assumptions made about me due to my political leanings.

Oh, I'm sorry. I just took your describing yourself as a conservative and then saw you claim no sway and therefore no implied responsibility for basically anything. My response to that is simply "fine, then don't bitch".
And Puuuuuuullllllllease spare us the gender preference crap. Who you give or take it from is of NO consequence to this debate. And claiming some special sub-category adds no credibility to what you're saying.

Whoa! Where did I claim some special sub-category or attempt to add credibility? I simply pointed out that, no matter the sub-culture you could put me in, I do try to keep members of that sub-culture honest and rational. I simply used my sexual orientation as a reference point. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are reading subtext in there that doesn't exist, that is on you.

Also, where did I ever say that I don't sway in my political beliefs, or that I am always on the side of conservatives? Please, show me that.

You seem to be the one who wants to make all members of a group responsible for every other member of that group. Not me. I am responsible for what I say and what I do. I'm not responsible for anyone else. Don't try to hold me accountable because other conservatives have said things you don't like.

As someone who appreciates intelligent, civil discourse, I hope you stick around. It would be boring as hell if there were only Dems here.
