Status: offline 		I can understand the frustration people feel towards the silence they perceive emanating from those conservatives who admit to being turned off by the antics of Rush, the Tea Baggers and other assorted influential nuts on the conservative side of politics. There's every reason to expect more than mere words from such conservatives.

I wonder though, why people are choosing to air their frustration in such a confrontational manner. It takes a lot for a person to break with the party they have supported all their lives. Wouldn't it be far more effective to encourage such people to be more assertive and open in their opposition to the looney/religious right, than demand it?

Put yourself in their shoes for a minute and you'll see what I mean. Would you be more likely to react favourably to someone demanding or encouraging radical action of you? Think of the prize - splitting the Right and rendering it ineffective for a generation or two - and then design a strategy most likely to deliver the prize.

The point was when (Then, Sen.) Obama was asked to denounce Rev. Wright and did he think the Rev. was wrong he deflected the questions (as he should have). It's not for a public figure to answer for the (legal, though scummy) actions of their supporters.

Unless you believe that Rev. Wright got his marching orders from (Then, Sen.) Obama? Of course he didn't. Well, Rush doesn't get his orders from Boehner, either.

Your ability to cast such ugliness on an entire group and think that it doesn't drag you down into some very dirty mud is amazing.

I've been around a LOT of conservatives in my time, and I've listened to Rush before as well (as well as to liberal, and libertarian commentators, just so you don't think I'm some party-line towing shill). And, in that time, I've never once heard anything that would even come close to what you are suggesting. Care to provide some evidence to back that claim up?
