Thank you for trying to keep things from going too far astray regarding the actual testimony, and especially Rush's (I'm almost certain, intentional) misreading of it.

But since Rush brought it up, FTP felt that we might take the opportunity to address the issue of modern day relationships and what they entail also; it's out there now, it's not going away. I understand that, and feel likewise. I was responding to her post concerning the still existing anachronistic attitudes towards women's sexuality in contemporary society.

Well that's really interesting, Mike. Do you suppose the reason McCain and the campaign chose to highlight the exchange was because Obama told Joe he believed government tax policies needed to be about spreading the wealth around?

Nothing that came after that ever changed Obama's statement in any way, but it sure changed the subject in a hurry.

Thank you for speaking so eloquently against social security...
If only more Republicans, especially folks like Rush, would stand up to liberal, wealth re-distribution programs like Social Security, the right would lose their last voting block...

No, cuz that wasn't what people had the issue with, they had the issue with some fuckin lying lout who didnt have brains enough to pour piss out of a boot, thinking that he could get on tv and look stupid in his 15 minutes of fame, and he did, he was good at it, we all marveled.

Did I issue any sort of value judgement on promiscuity, Edwynn?

The term itself is a value judgment, a derogatory one, always has been. You are either very dishonest or very ignorant if pretending otherwise.

quote:

I'm a fan of promiscuity, as a matter of fact. I indulged in, and enjoyed the hell out of promiscuity for a goodly percentage of my life.

You indulged in participation with what you term promiscuous women. Your implied reference to your side of that as being 'male promiscuity' is again being either ignorant of the normal use of the term being directed at females only or just dishonest.

quote:

What planet are you two on, to think that your values are the only ones that can possibly exist, ...

The values concerning modern day relationships as explained by FTP are the values held in modern day developed countries by those wishing to be a part of modern day society, and that's the planet on which I and a good many others live. Yeah, I thought the drive-in days were fun at the time too, but some of us grow up, I've had no interest in that sort of thing for a long time, and I do not use all of the same terms that were used decades ago, especially regarding women.

I`ve seen the video where joe tries to do a gotcha question on President Obama and gets dumbafied when the president calmly answered his question.

"Spreading the wealth around" meant getting people good jobs and educations to earn more, not what the nutty-right says he meant.

The rush-bratfart-hanity-becks have proven over and over that they distort and repeat the distortion endlessly.......Orwell would be either proud or stunded by their bullshiting skills.Or by their viewer`s gullibility.

And as rich and braitbart have said......the left are monseters...........so it`s ok to be monsters.........too.

Jeezz if anyone "lowered the bar" it was bush when they did phone ads saying McCain had non-white,out of wed-lock baby.

So how did President Obama lower the bar?

Rush pushed things too far. He changed the argument from being over the government's right to prescribe health care plans, to exactly how much the GOP wants to kick women. And the GOP is trying to avoid alienating either the Limbaugh empire's listeners and the entire female voter bloc and failing.

Failing miserably! While some of my attention was diverted, the good ole state I reside in passed a bill through the that women in Texas now have to have an invasive trans-vaginal ultrasound before an abortion, and you have to be offered the option to look at the picture. Doesn't matter if you've been raped. While everyone is focused on national government, states are quietly passing bills that reinforces the "War on Women" across the world, never mind our lovely nation. Virginia has now signed on as has Iowa, and let't not talk about that Dakota state.
I want to be a fly on the wall when Ricky Perry signs the Texas bill. Change that. I want to be a large wasp, no pun intended!

Corporate media is running with this. Could be ClearChannel's excuse to cut their losses and bail on their PremierRadio contract.

Ack, thought we licked that problem in Georgia.
Start a thread on this, the more press it gets, the less likely it is to get signed.
The Georgia one (that sounds identical to what you describe) was described as "State rape" by papers on other nations. Gave Georgia such a black eye that even the sponsors decided not to support it (and claimed they didn't realize what trans-vaginal meant...).

What planet are we on?

For some, a planet that existed forty years or longer ago.

Witness:

quote:

ORIGINAL: TheHeretic

This young woman got up and talked about her right to subsidized promiscuity.

Note that even forty or more years ago promiscuity was a term used for easily going from one partner to the next, on some occasions perhaps even  two or more simultaneously. The poster above apparently agrees with Rush that even long term monogamous pre-marital sexual relationships constitute 'promiscuity.' That designation applying of course only to the woman in the situation.

That's what planet they're on.

Okay, well I did mean the questions rhetorically , but yes, my point is simply that the American society of 40 years ago no longer exists, and unless Limbaugh and his buddies want to build the time machine to go back in time, there is no turning the clock back on the sexual revolution unless there is some large scale shift in societal values (a shift which I do not think will occur any time soon.)

And those who really want to turn back the clock and return to a society where men and women are not free to engage in pre-marital sex are more than welcome to move to any of the Islamic theocracies that currently exist on the planet. In fact, I really encourage them to do so.

This is absolutely what is at play here. Isn't it interesting that when referring to women and their approach to sex, we have the words prude or slut - but there is nothing in between. How telling is that?

Not what I was addressing Rich,I feel no need to re fight that election(my guy won ).
What I was addressing was your neglecting to give credit where credit was due where the deconstruction(or should I say unraveling) of lying Joe was.
McCain deserves far more credit than a vindictive left(where you tried to lay it off) ever deserved.
McCain, and McCain alone decided Joe the plumber and his interplay with the candidate Obama needed to be front and center in the campaign.
That ill advised decision blew up in McCains face, and led ,directly to the false narrative you are pushing .
Yanno the one where poor Joe is a victim of the left.If Joe was anyone's victim he was McCain's victim.
Hell if I was Joe I would sue McCain for intentionally revealing me to be an asshole !

I like the idea of women taking ownership of the word slut and making it a statement of pride in their sexuality. After all, every male in our culture is encouraged to be a slut. Why should only men get to do it?
And that is before noting that if all men are supposed to be sluts, they are going to need a good supply of female sluts just to do so...
Now I do have a problem with prudes. Do what you want with your own life, but if you judge me or mine, realize I will fixate on you and try to figure out what deep dark kink is making you such a prude, then imagine you doing it and wank off to it. How is that for a threat???

Edit: Warning, the strategy for prudes does not work on Ann Coulter. Ugh, it was far worse punishment for me than it could have been for her... needless to say I didn't even get close to coming...

Hey Lucy, no issue, undisturbed lies my stash of tissues.

'Twas I who missed that you were only using my post as a carry through of sorts to point out the more fundamental ignorance of the claim that Ms. Fluke was giving testimony in advocacy of  tax payers' "paying for promiscuity." It wasn't about taxpayers and it wasn't about promiscuity.

But that's what they are good at, the ability to roll up two or three inane and nonsensical complete fabrications into one brief derogatory statement.
