quote:
Marc2b, I completely sympathize with the not being paid for honest work, but this did sound like some prank a young person would do - and let's face it, many of us when we're young do the odd thing like this even though we are not bad people at the core. slvemike4u please tell me you are not doing such things now. This description struck me as more Animal House than something you would be doing today. Am I wrong? Most young people go through a slight phase of this in their lives. It is usually very short. And they usually mature out of it once they understand the value of hard work. Again, Marc2b, not advocating this type of behavior. I know you're not advocating such behavior but I wanted to remind people that what seems like a hoot from one perspective seems very different from another. Truth be told, it wasn't often necessary for us to resort to violence in these situations. We believed in what we called the "Godfather Method." When a person suddenly finds themselves surrounded by ten to twelve people casually holding various blunt instruments... well, let's just say they were suddenly conducive to reason and willing to examine their conscience. "You feel bad about what you did?" "Oh yes! That was wrong of me, very wrong." "You feel shame over what you did?" "Very ashamed, I feel very ashamed!" "And you want to apologize?" "Oh yes! I am so sorry! Please, please, accept my deepest apologies." "And now you want to fulfill your obligations?" "Absolutely! Oh very much so!" "And maybe a little something extra? To make up for what you did?" "Oh yes! That's only fair after all." "I'm feeling really good about this now. I think we've come to an understanding with each other."
