Time to bring these men and woman home....long past time

p.s. I hope that link works,not my strong suit at all.[:)]
Worked for me,so it should be good

Moonhead -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/11/2012 10:44:23 AM)

Somebody is desperate for a section 8, aren't they?
(Link working fine...)

slvemike4u -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/11/2012 10:49:45 AM)

I thought Klinger went about it in a much more reasonable manner
Not trying to make light of the situation,I really don't mean to...but damm as I heard on Face The Nation,how does a US serviceman ,with a loaded weapon walk out of a guarded compound all by his lonesome ?
Did not anyone notice this ?

Bad plan then. He'll be tried in uniform, and probably executed in the the one they issue him after that.

Mike, it's not happening a lot lately, but I'm in complete agreement with you on these words.

That's true,the not agreeing part.
Why do you think that is?
I have a feeling we would disagree on even that.For instance I would say that this upcoming election has moved you further right,you of course,would disagree [:)]

The individual responsible has made his choices and he will have to accept the consequences.

Of far greater significance is the damage this person may have done to the international project in Afghanistan. After the recent furore over burning Korans, it seems that the chances of "winning the hearts and minds" of the Afghani people appear terminally damaged. And that means the failure of the entire project.

Which means that there is even less point than ever in maintaining a foreign military presence in the country. The sooner all Western troops leave Afghanistan, the better. The lessons for those warmongers trying to incite attacks on Iran couldn't be clearer.

Let's hope that the failure of this project means the end of Western military adventures in the Middle East.

slvemike4u -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/11/2012 5:33:15 PM)

And do you hold out any hope that the Republican candidates,referred to as warmongers in the above post,will heed those lessons [8|]
Allow me to add hearing one Republican candidate(Gingrich) practically cede the right to decide when America goes to war to a foreign country was truly astounding.How anyone can still consider him Presidential(how anyone ever did is,in and of itself amazing) is astounding.

I don't know that we'll ever learn, tweakabelle. We "installed" Saddam, and then we ended up having to take him out. We were integral in getting Iran to their current form of Gov't. And now we are leaning towards "fixing" that, too. We aided al Qaeda, bin Laden and the Taliban against Afghanistan and Russia and we ended up having to fight against them.

Will Libya bite us in the ass? I'm going to go out on a limb and say, "probably."

Damn, I can't believe how much we agreed here. lol

Interviewed by Fawks News last night Gingrich came very, very close to saying we should get out but he pulled back from the precipice, or he was pushed back by thoughts of his 'base'

Moonhead -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/12/2012 6:13:55 AM)

He's yet another neocon draft dodger and VA funding slasher who thinks that the military is his "base" then?
The Republican party should just rename itself "Chickenhawks Anonymous" and be done with it.

hlen5 -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/12/2012 12:08:03 PM)

I just heard today that some of the victims bodies were burned. This just keeps getting worse and worse.

DarkSteven -> RE: U.S. Serviceman shoots Afghan civilians (3/12/2012 1:08:15 PM)

Shit. It's actually a tribute to the US military that this never happened before (buncha teenagers sent halfway round the world, given weapons, and pushed into a foreign land where they're hated), but the ramifications will be horrible. The Taliban has announced that it will attack in revenge.

The best case would be an orderly withdrawal per our own timeframe, arbitrary though it would be. If we withdraw in the teeth of fury, it will look like weakness to the Arab world.

Crap.

I certainly won't criticize them when they get home. No matter how this ends.

There's a surprise. I just hope the morale of those "teenagers" isn't so low at this point that something even worse happens before we can get them out of there.

Perhaps, but I'm at the point where I'd rather sever all ties to the Middle-East and let it collapse on itself. I'm tired of watching our government try to help a civilization that's stuck within it's own radical identity crisis.

As far as this one soldier is concerned, if he did actually admit to what he did as we're being told, bring him home, put him on trial, then put him in prison. I just hope they don't turn him over to the Afghans. The last thing we need to see are Muslims dancing in the streets again because they got to behead another American.

That is a rather naive point of view.
The u.s. is in the middle east so we can fuck their women and steal their dope. Those folks have been in bussiness for thousands of years before the u.s. was the u.s. They do not need our help with anything.

As far as this one soldier is concerned, if he did actually admit to what he did as we're being told, bring him home, put him on trial, then put him in prison.

At this point we do not know if it was premeditated murder or ptsd.

Americans dance in the street when we bag one of them.
What is the difference...dead is dead.
Personally I would prefer to go out on the upstroke with a 25 year hard body...that way the down stroke is a free ride[;)]

my question is IF this soldier was known to have had a breakdown, as reorted in some of the media here, why wasnt he sent home for some help ?

Moronic willful arrogance of his superiors would be my first guess.

Are you kidding?? I doubt the military cares what health problems our soldiers are suffering. My son's best friend was in Afghanistan. He was exposed to something--nobody will say what and even deny the use of chemical weapons by US--when a chemical bomb blew up near him. After 4 weeks in a hospital in Germany, they were going to send him back to Afghanistan. His mother and I and a bunch of other family friends called Congressman Phil English, who managed to get a Congressional order to get him home. That was '07. My son's friend still suffers health problems but the VA refuses to diagnose him and without a diagnosis he can't get full benefits. Sadly, Phil English lost his '08 reelection bid to Kathy Dahlkemper, who, in turn lost to the TPer Mike Kelly. English, though a Republican is sorely missed.
