Just a little poll to see how many Star Trek fans are also fans of the television show The Big Bang Theory.

A little video with some nice images for the sci geeks out there.

I'm more a fan of the Big Bang Theory than Star Trek, now if you'd put Dr Who and the Big Bang Theory...

That would be a good poll as well! I am a Dr. Who fan, too... and Red Dwarf.. oh, hell, I'm a sci-fi nerd, raised two sci-fi nerds of my own (with a HUGE dose of football geek thrown in) and one of my sci-fi nerdlettes is doing a good job of turning 4 more entities into sci-fi nerds. All is right in nerdland.

Now I will also say that my ST show is DS9. And I really don't watch BBT, but I like it!

I'm not sure I count as a Trekkie. Those are, basically, the guys who are there for us Whovians to dismiss as nerds with no social skills, after all...

Hey.. I have a social skill! I stopped drooling on myself after all! That's gotta count for something.

I do not qualify as a Whovian, at least not in the States. Serious trivia snobs.

Big fan of Star Trek, only watched Big Bang Theory once, on an airplane.  Was unimpressed.   It seemed like the type of run of the mill sit com that (along with reality shows) made me get rid of my TV in the first place.

Here's one of my favorite bits from a William Shatner interview:

http://www.npr.org/2012/03/06/147735025/in-shatners-world-stories-about-acting-loss-life

A sizable chunk of Shatner's performance, of course, is devoted to his iconic role as Capt. James T. Kirk. He speaks candidly about how Star Trek's popularity made him begin to see his own acting career in a negative way, until he heard Patrick Stewart speak about his own role on the show's sequel series, Star Trek: The Next Generation.

"I have a lot of respect for Patrick Stewart, and [it was seeing] the gravitas that this great Shakespearean actor gave to his role that I suddenly realized that this guy is taking Capt. Picard every bit as seriously as Macbeth," Shatner says. "And I used to. And I stopped. And what the hell's the matter with me? It was a great piece of work. Everybody contributed to it for three years, and it has lasted 50. It's a phenomenon. Why aren't I proud of it? And that's when I had a moment."

I love it when Sheldon is overly logical and detached from emotion. Yum.

Awesome video.

I enjoy both Star Trek and Big Bang Theory. I also enjoyed Bab 5. Honor Harrington and Miles VorKosigan are two of my heroes.

Big bang grows on you after a while. I didn't like it at first but now I enjoy it-- I particularly like all of the physics references--there are a lot of jokes that I suspect a good part of the population will have no idea why it's so funny.

I used to watch Star Trek but now spend my time watching Archer or more educational shows like 1000 Ways To Die or Manswers.

I don't think Big Bang is considered simply theoretical much anymore except, perhaps, by Creationists and the tobacco companies , both groups seemingly requiring more scientific "proof". Than the rest of us.

Been a big Star Trek fan since the beginning and through the Picard years. Always wanted a ménage with Diana Troi and Beverly Crusher. Fantasised about strapping myself to a Klingon bitch and holding on for dear life too.

Funny phenomenon I found in prison. Most black inmates hated Star Trek and would mock us honkies for watching what they considered fantasy, yet they themselves loved to watch cartoons ! Go figure...

Re Big Bang Theory, I especially love it when Penny starts referencing Star Trek, etc., when she talks. She's always so quizzical about the fact that she now knows some of that stuff. Cute.
