As a business owner, that is so fucking STUPID. If I have female employees, I have 2 choices. Employee that is starting a family or employee that is not starting a family.

Employee that is IS starting a family needs many weeks of leave and special dispensations which might cost me thousands of dollars before and after she pushes a brat out.

Employee NOT starting a family needs no special treatment and works 40 hours a week for the same amount of money.

DUHHHHHHHHHHHH. Hell, if it were allowed, I'd fire the one that was NOT using BC.

You know, I've also posted stories off Alternet.com, which is where I first saw this one. I really wouldn't if somebody wanted to give me grief because of the left-leaning, I've made no bones about being a die hard liberal bordering on socialist. When I come across an interesting story, I sometimes spend the time to try to find it on more "acceptable" sites, but I'm tired tonight, my wrist hurts and I've had a extremely long day catching up on paperwork after 4 days away from work. This is my "wind-down" time before bed.

I don't think the "good" Ms. Lesko even considered married women wanting to delay pregnancy. Or maybe she did. If so, it makes the bill all the more insidious.

Okay. Let's step back a moment. Ignore the contraception issue, and ignore the women's issues.

This bill proposes that a company be able to examine employees' health care practices. Under HIPAA, this stuff is supposed to be kept confidential. Since the bill refers to insurance, I'll assume it refers to companies that employ insurance companies, as opposed to companies that self-insure. If so, there is NO WAY that this sharing of privileged information will stand up in court.

Perhaps they think Stepford wives are perfect role models, only not pregnant enough, often enough .......,Is it big sinister long term plan to out breed the liberal queers? Where do they make the nutters who dream this insane stuff up? What are they on? Is there a huge Misogyny Factory in AZ? Or is it the GOP? You could be forgiven for concluding the GOP is in a race back to the Middle Ages.

Once again GOP 'health' policies have my brain refusing to believe the words my eyes are reading. A sensible healthcare policy in the USA must include protection from this medieval insanity.

I've looked into this. This bill prevents someone from lying to an employer's insurance representative in order to get contraceptives paid for when they would not normally pay for them just for contraceptive purposes. It requires a prescription supported by a non-contraceptive diagnosis. I also point out this is not a hippa issue since you will be giving this information to the insurance company representative and such information may always be required for any type of insured health care compensaton by a diagnosis and not only just for contraceptives . A diagnosis for "not wanting children" is not exactly what some companies or organizations who do not believe in contraceptives will pay for and so they are protected from misrepresenting the contraceptive purpose, from employees lying (imagine that) to get around policies whose purose is to prevent payments for contraceptives used just to prevent pregnancy. So, no issues exist as presented here or in the article linked to in the OP. Much to-do about absolutely nothing except enforcing truth when filing insurance claims.

It has nothing to do with lying on insurance claims, which is insurance fraud and already illegal and has everything to do with getting around the 2000 mandate that companies that provide health insurance provide contraceptive coverage and the 2012 mandate that said contraceptive coverage is provided with no co-pay. Both mandates, btw, the insurance companies are willing to provide.

The fact than women (married or otherwise) can be 'caught' having sexual relations without intention of producing a child (by way of filing for BC coverage) and men cannot be 'caught' for doing the same thing appears to make this a discrimination issue. Were this Dark Ages law to somehow pass, I can't imagine it overcoming a XIV amendment (w/'71 SC ruling) or  EEOC-based court challenge.

A good case can be made that it is a clear cut threat to women's freedoms liberties and right to pursue happiness. Whether that's enough to contravene RICO statutes I am uncertain. There could well be a conspiracy case in there somewhere ....

It would nice if someone lodged a complaint with the FBI and we all found out .......

Given you've challenged the other poster if they've "read the entire bill", posted a link to the Bill, and are the OP of this thread, I'm assuming YOU have both (i) read/researched the "entire bill", and (ii) can easily cite the EXACT SECTION of the Bill which states/implies the "Arizona law will allow female employees to be fired for using birth control" -- as opposed to being fired for "...lying to an employer's insurance representative in order to get contraceptives paid for when they would not normally pay for them", as the other poster suggested. 

Please copy/paste the EXACT SECTION of the Bill which supports your OP's premise.
