Crying is good, it is an outlet for the sadness you are feeling. After your dog gets adopted you might also get angry. There are different stages of grief and will probably be alot like the ones you went through when your other dog died. Just like when you go through any tough time, try to stay positive, try not to dwell on your sadness. Maybe you could make a photo album and tuck it awayso you can have it for later. It takes alot of courage to do the right thing for what you love, in this case finding a home where this dog can be happy. It is a very unselfish and loving act so take pride in that.

Humane Society is where this girl worked for 2 years. there are animal carcasses on the grounds, yes, dead animals that are allowed to lie on the grounds where the general public can not only smell them but see them in some cases, food in the elements, they snatch animals that they think they can get rid of (they charge extra for pure breds and small animals) when they bring in a new animal, they just put it in any 'ol cage and fights break out. this girl had to argue with the owner to get a severly wounded animal to the vet. they do not spay or neuter and while this girl was working there she knows of at least 20 dogs that got pregnant and gave birth, all after comming to the shelter, because they put intact males and females in the same enclosure. this girl has been attempting to get someone, anyone to help her change the Humane Society here. not close it down, if that happened a great many animals would be put down.
this girl had a friend offer to build 2 more kennels and put a fence around the entire 4 acres of the shelter, the pres. refused to allow that to happen. she said it would only encourge people to bring in animals. isnt that what they are there for?
she has more horror stories about the G.C.H.S., but thinks this demonstrates her reluctance to send her baby there.
the only other place that would take her in is the pound and they euthinize. NO WAY!

Status: offline 		I love my dogs like my kids..well..actually since I don't have any as of yet.. I have always treated them as such.  I have a new Master..and when I move to be with Him.. I cannot take my bigger dog with me.. though I can my two smaller ones.  This is not because of Him however.. it is just because most apts won't let you have (a)that big of dog (b) that many dogs.  I have had Pepps since he was 5 weeks old..and he is now 8...so I totally know how you feel.  I am so blessed to have my best friend that will take him for me.. because I know I have to be aware he is happy and loved. 
 
My heart breaks for you though.. so very much.. you are a good person..and a good "mom" if you are doing what is best for him.  No matter what anyone says.. your Sir included.. you know in your heart whether this is best or not..and I trust you to make that choice.  Good luck..   ~Ticia

although this girl knows that to get an honest opinion she must give as much accurate information as she is able, some of that was hard for this girl to write.
knowing that there are people out there who understand and sympathize with her makes her feel a little better.

Well, now that is just horrible to hear.
I only know of them becasue when I was composing my info on puppy mills I contacted several HS's in puppy mill states to see what is being done to change the practices/laws. That particular HS was one of the few that provided me with info. I knew or know nothing else about them, except info sent to me. You have first hand knowledge and lots of times things look pretty on paper. I am actually appalled and will not use them as a reference source if I need one again. Thank you for the tip. I will also pass this on to some of the management people I work with in NVHS. I think it should be noted not to use some one who does not practice what they preach.
I never suggested you put the dog in a shelter/pound, I also would not do that either, unless there were very extenuating circumstances.

Status: offline 		Ahhh...that makes sense, then. i'm very, very sorry that you have to do this, but in the long run, it may be best for your pup. :(

On how to let go of a pet...it's hard, but time helps. There will be grieving and crying and some anger, but all that is normal. i've never had to rehome a pet, but i have had to put one down. Heartbreaking, but ultimately the best thing for her.

i do hope it gets easier for you, especially if you find a good home for her.

Status: offline 		mbmbn, this girl didnt intend to make you think she was spaeking directly to you about the shelter, a few had mentioned it, she just wanted to state for the record what the HS here is like and if there is ANYTHING you might be able to do to make the living conditions for the poor animals at the HS here, this girl will do what she can on this end. she has been trying to get someone's attention about it for years.

Status: offline 		At first I was horrified by the thought that you'd give up your animals for your Master but after reading through I see that you're doing this for the good of the pet. With that said, allow yourself to cry when the time comes. There's no easy way to let go. Getting another dog (a little one) will help but please be sure you can provide proper care for the new dog. He/she will need to be spayed/neutered and I have my own little chihuahua/min pin mix so I can tell you from experience, chances are the little dog is going to need some kind of a jacket because they're *always* cold. Sounds like you'll treasure your new friend though and always remember the joy you had with the old one.

Status: offline 		Probably the thing that concerns me the most in regards to potential new relationships and the possibility of living together and relocation. I have two cats and I adopted them when I financially shouldn't have at the time because a good friends friend had to move and couldn't find a home that allowed cats, and that I didn't want them to end up in the humane society or some a neighbour that later on proven to that they cannot take care of cats. No way in hell I would just give them up for a Domme. If a Domme ever does and especially does in manner that they didn't pets and such, then I would definatly reconsider the relationship.

As for me, I'd be getting rid of any man first, Master or not, my pets come first. They were here first and they will be staying. But, that's me.

If he understood and really cared how much these pets mean to you, he wouldn't be asking that. Perhaps he's the one being selfish. Just my five cents worth.

My pets are also a deal breaker for me.  Before I entered my current relationship, it was something we discussed.  I have three cats, he didn't like cats.  I made sure that he wouldn't want me to get rid of them when I became his.  Now, cats have grown on him so much, he has one of his own. 

I understand that the OP's situation is not a matter of just getting rid of them, but a matter of no longer being able to care for them in a way she thinks is best.  It's hard, mourn them and know that you did what you thought was best for them.

You should not be forced to let go of your dearest friends. I too am of shaman background and people who are NOT simply do not understand the importance.

If i was you, i would tell your Master that thsi is a line you wont back away from. if you are so miserable that you are cring, already having lost a dear friend and pet just a couple months ago, then he is not doing what he should be doing which is caring for you in mind body AND SPIRIT.

Then again, i am a DOMME, i would never allow some one to tell me if i could keep a pet. In fact, i kept my last one until i could no longer care for her and then gave her up. But i wouldnt let anyone take her from me. *I* made that choice because i had no other choice to make. This isnt an issue of D/s - its an issue of care. You need to explain to him your dog is like your child - and he wouldnt demand you kick out your child.

Period.

as a DOMME i feel he is making a big mistake in his care of you. And that MAY be as a result of you not sharing with him the importance. I think you need to sit down with him and share with him with open heart and honesty exactly how this effects you.

Status: offline 		Hrm, thsi is why i should read further posts before posting myself - If its because the care isnt good enough that is different. But be certain that you arent being forced into something that he wants and is using a sort of logic to get what he wants. I have known many many large dogs who, given the choice of bigger home and running space would still stay with original owner. You know your dog, if you feel that she will get depressed without you than it isnt the right choice to make. And yes, some dogs truly will go depressed and even do things that harm themselves.

I am just saying make sure it really IS the best course of action for the DOG - dont let him use logic that makes sense on the outside, but doesnt on the inside. Being a shaman, you know what i'm talking about and i have no doubt that you will know if your baby could be happy without you - if so, then great, if not then take a stand and be clear and sincere.

Status: offline 		Why doesn't your Master just simply help you with the food bills for your dog? Your dog is happiest with you, and you obviously need your dog. I know I would look at all options, giving up a family member is not easy. My Master is allergic to cats yet here I am, living with him and my 2 cats, he just upped his medications so he could be with them and he knew their importance to me. Im not saying that what you are doing is wrong or bad, I am just saying  maybe he could help you a bit with your options and maybe support you a bit more in finding ways to keep the dog and not get rid of him. Just my opinion

Status: offline 		I hope you can find a good home for Mo  i know it will be hard for you but maybe if you can visit it will be eaiser. Again that might make it harder.  I am an animal lover about 12 years i had to put my dog (cricket) down.  I loved him a lot had him for 19 years but he was totally deaf, half blind and could not walk without whimpering in pain.  Loved him enough to not make him live like that it was no life for him.

At least you will know when you find a home for him he is alive and will be happy i hope that though will ease your pain a little.

Status: offline 		I will NEVER give up one of my 5 cats for a man, dom or not, I don't care how good he is at the time and how much I *think* I love him.  I've been through too many years with these furbabies, hand-raised 2 of them to a certain point, and they've stuck by me through all sorts of emotional ups and downs, relationships coming and going, and they're always HERE for me!  There is no guarantee that any man will be there, but I know my kitties will still be there and will love me just the way I am.

Any man who doesn't feel the same about cats as I do is not the man for me.  You have to do what you think is right, but I know in the past I've made a case for a decision I didn't really want to make when I thought it would make someone else happy.  NO MORE.  If he's Mr. Right Dom, he'll love the animals too.
