FR The selection of Palin as nominee for vp kept a great many suburban Republican women from voting or made them vote for Obama. Not all Republican women identify with that Mama Grizzly and fundamentalist Christian stuff. This zero tolerance for abortion and nattering about birth control and vag probes is creeping women out and not just women on the left. If this stuff and Rush and religiosity coupled with a probable nominee who who evokes lukewarm approval at best becomes the public perception of the Republicans how can it not hurt them in November? Thinking otherwise would seem to be serious not seeing the forest for the trees thinking. How many voters can the Republicans afford to sit this election out. Then you have independents. Except for a few who are wandering around lost in the wilderness undecided a hour before the polls open, independents are for the most part moderate republicans who are scared of the religious right. Can Romney win without independents? Is there going to be a push to make some of the extreme abortion rhetoric a part of the platform? The noise a push will make will be enough to turn some away whether they make it a plank or not.
