There's a history of this, especially when the Pres. and VP were elected separately, and could be from different parties. Perhaps an interesting thread of its own.

You are right. I had forgoten the Senate has avoided basic government up to now. Like a budget. Thanks for the reminder. Oh wait, they did get a budget from Obama but ... umm... I forget what they did with it...did they fail to take it up or did they just ... what? What the hell are they doing there anyway? I'm sure women love to hear how you trash women. Sara Palin is a woman. Perhaps from this thread I can gather that it is only Democratic women who have rights. From this I gather there is a war on women of the right. That is an interesting but perhaps obvious revelation that I just now got. I get it now. I'm sure women get it also. I'm sure they as a group think that is not very good. Because most women are intelligent. Including Governor Palin of Alaska.
