Dear MichaelHunter, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I do agree with the lists of reasons for resistance.

They aren't really submissive, they are afraid of what may come of it,
They confuse submissive and slave, and combat the adverse change, they are addicted to rebuttal and or confuse play with real life.

That said, I like to have those reading to consider the following:

Dominants really need to communicate through these struggles that submissives/slaves have in an internal dialog.  What 'we' (in general) fear is what we do not understand, so it is only human to resist what we're not familiar with.  At times, one must resist to do better for ourselves in the long run.  And, dominants need to realize that slaves and or submissives are not 'instant' mind readers or grasp the concept of what the Master/Mistress/Dominant is attempting to express.

Safety, security and routine normal is what humans seek, not surprises or drastic changes.  Learned behavior from our birth to the point reached in any M/s and D/s relationship and or life's employments, sports, family and such, gives cause and effects to which shape us further.  By communicating and taking the time as to invest in the understanding of what is asked of slaves/submissives and that of the dominants, Masters and Mistresses, resistance is less likely to be so dramatic.

It is agreed, that humans are curious creatures and will pose many questions as to reason and or understand.  Once there is enough information to make a choice and or "will" themselves, they will do so.  Some just need more time.

The Gorean philosophy is based upon books, based upon the writings of John Norman.  The book had characters within these series that act and react according to the author's projections.  However, the philosophy still is worthy to those who see the virtues of it and, should be respected.  But, it also can be harmful to those who use the series on Gor as a 'by the book' without putting reasonable behavior and or boundries on Master/Jarl/Mistress and or kajira/kajirus behavior for the "here and now" in the present state of life.  The "time machine" doesn't work and cannot expect the mindset of the 1100's to 1700's to be grasped after being spoiled in this century.  So, this is why it is necessary in my mind's eye; to communicate more than perhaps the Norman Gor books allowed in the them of "Gor."  And, perhaps some individuals will be forever uncomfortable in Gor but, happy in a D/s and or M/s relationship.  However; the main thing is that we are all looking for our personal happiness.

For dominants who never submitted at any length; not putting bottoming as to feel a sensation but, those who put themselves in a submissive/slave role; can "think/believe" they know what it takes to be slave/submissive.  Those who have submitted, can empathize a bit better however male and female slaves do submit similiar--but, not exactly.  So, I do understand why there is resistance and why it manifests.

Our world is of those who soak up information and great volumes of it before they act.  To get such is much faster than those of our grandparents and or our parent's generation.  So, resistance can be merely a manifestation that the quest for information, knowledge and research as to permit a choice of will is merely "timing."  Might not be ready yet to take that step.  Given more time, it might be then spot on whereas, it wasn't the day before and or hours before.

Good thread.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs
