My GF didn't resolve her PCOS until she went to an endocrinologist.

My experience with the VA is that they are slow to adopt new standards. I don't like what my VA GYN proposed for my fibroids and will definitely check with civilian GYN(s).

My pelvic MRI showed an unrelated issue in my hips for which I have seen two doctors who could tell me nothing so I'm off to VA orthopedics as well as my brother-in-law, an orthopedic surgeon.

My first VA GYN would not give me Prometrium, a natural progesterone (still on topic, lol) which 4 prior civilian doctors had given me, but my second one did.

So Josh's Pet, please forgive internet strangers butting into your medical issues, but the message we want to convey is don't give up.

I will leave it up to my Master to decide if He wishes for me to take them then I will. I wont be reading any more replies here......

That was very mature.

I'm going to miss the OP. His thoughts were so logical. No signs of sub frenzy in him. Nope, none at all. [8|]

PCOS sucks. I have a whole shitload to say about it, but that should be sufficient...let your GF know I can totally relate to her experience. I sympethize, empathize and every other ethize there is out there. PCOS ruined a lot of things in my life and it just fucking sucks.

PCOS is a misery. I have several friends with it. Big sympathy to all of you who have to deal.

People who come to message boards on such health matters are stupid.

While it is helpful to hear from women and men who have experienced issues with hormones and medication, we are not doctors.

Some of us have received bad advice from actual physicians and some of us went and got second, third and fourth opinions to be informed consumers in charge of our own health.

Having real life medical issues is very difficult; to enter into these things from an elective point of view, to me, is just a problem waiting to happen and it will be the OP and their partner's fault, and no one else's.

FR

Being Transgendered, M2F, myself - and having been on hormone pills for over a year here's what I have to say.

1) Estrogen alone will not do much unless in high doses to overcome your bodies natural Testosterone production.
2) To much estrogen will actually cause the body to convert it to testosterone, which doesn't help.
3) In order for estrogen to have the effects of growing breasts you'd need a testosterone suppressor.

Every pill has their side effects, the ones I'm on reduce my ability to process potassium, increase my risk of pulmonary edema and deep vein thrombosis - and growth of breasts increases the chances of breast cancer. In order to avoid these I have constant visits, and blood work ups, with my doctor so that they can cut back my dosage if needed.

Furthermore, the changes; such as breast growth, are not reversible. Once there you will not lose your breasts just by stopping estrogen intake - you'd need surgery to do that.

That seems a bit much for kink. It wasn't a light choice to make for me, and I'm doing this because I want to change genders - doing it for fun just seems like a waste of your time - and of whichever doctor you get to prescribe you the pills.

Wanna do forced fem, do it in ways that don't use hormones, messing with your body from the inside out for a bit of fun is not advised in my opinion.

Me too. I think that would be awesome.

Thanks Jaquin for your post.

From what I've read and seen....people like the OP don't take the prescribed dose...and aren't taking it under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals. And everything that you posted is absolutely correct---and hopefully the OP is just blowing smoke and has no intention of actually abusing birth control pills or some illegal form of estrogen acquired over the border.

edited to add: Two years before my transition, I had to take birth control pills for a medical condition---it was absolutely horrible! I never want to experience that level of insanity ever again. AND it made my breasts grow, which was the deal breaker. The anger, mood swings, crying, depression, weight gain and nausea were BAD....but I had to draw the line somewhere.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Birthcontrol / Estrogen (4/1/2012 1:17:59 PM)

Birth control pills come in a wide variety, too, and have changed DRAMATICALLY over the years. Still, I had to take mine at night to avoid the "morning sickness", and that was on a low dose. The GENERIC version gave me PMS which I had never had, EVER. We won't go in to the hormone roulette I played with my doctor to keep surgery and symptoms at bay. It worked, but it was not something to just "try".

Justyourpet -> RE: Birthcontrol / Estrogen (4/1/2012 11:37:39 PM)

I didn't read any responses so your question may have been answered already, but if not here is what I've been told before...First off you need testosterone blockers, 2nd birth control pills do not have the needed estrogen for what you are trying to accomplish, third you really need a therapist before trying this.

btw don't expect miracle breast from estrogen either way. It takes a long time and you probably will get as far as a b without implants.

Most of this is from experienced people that has told me, but even with that some may be wrong...My 2 cent have a nice day!

joshspet1980 -> RE: Birthcontrol / Estrogen (4/2/2012 6:39:34 PM)

Thank you so much for supporting me. I don't want to give up. But, somedays I get frustrated enough that I want to. lol.
