Well gee Rich,that would tend to cast Carter in a good light,no /
Conversely would not being liked by the Iranians tend to cast a dim light on Ronnie?
Much like Romney just tried to do by suggesting that Obama is who the Russians prefer ?

tweakabelle -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/27/2012 10:09:34 PM)

Hey guys, aren't you all missing the obvious here?

Introducing "flexibility" into negotiations is a radical, dangerous new socialist secret socialist strategy that is totally un-American. It's clearly designed to diminish your constitutional rights, and to chip away at your freedoms.

Everyone knows that the only way to approach negotiations is "rigidly" not flexibly. If the other side compromises, up your demands. As the tea partiers demonstrated in Congress not so long ago, even the slightest shift towards the other sides's position during negotiations is dangerous, if not outright treason. Or the Israelis, who have been negotiating and upping their demands for twenty years now and so peace looks further away than ever. That is the way these matters are handled!

Whatever next? Will they want negotiations to culminate in "agreements"? May the Good Lord preserve us!

We have a good idea what Reagan said to Iran before he was elected don't we?[:D]

Well, we know what slur was, and is, thrown at him by desperate democrat whores, but I don't think there was ever a shred of evidence offered. Just, "the seriousness of the charge."

Mainly, I think, the Democrats just can't face up to how much the Iranians hated Carter.

So you think the hostages being released on inauguration day and then an immediate pipeline of weapons flowing to the mideast was just a coincidence huh?

Wanna buy a bridge? [8|]

TheHeretic -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/28/2012 7:13:33 PM)

The arms matter came along much later, HillWilliam. Somebody's bright idea, gone horribly wrong. Besides, didn't you read Tweak's rush to defend the Iran policies of President Reagan? Outside the box thinking is good foreign policy. I suspect, however, she posted that thinking we were talking about Obama, and in typical ignorance of the actual historical matters at hand. Perhaps she'll clarify for us?

The Iranians held the hostages until the last, as a final "my friend" to Carter. Reagan tried reaching out to them later, and he got burned doing it. Of course, giving Reagan credit for good intentions falls completely outside the boundaries of what good, obedient, Democrats are allowed to think or say.

dcnovice -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/28/2012 7:21:47 PM)

<fr>

My admittedly evidence-free theory about the hostage release is that the Iranians thought that Reagan just might actually bomb them and decided not to find out the hard way. If that's true, and I have no way of knowing, kudos to old Dutch for instilling fear in our enemies.

So let me make sure I have this straight. Now I can see where he is going to operate on the assumption that he will be re-elected. The power of positive thinking, and all that, but does he actually believe he is going to deliberately rip this country in two with a scorched earth, fear and loathing campaign, and find it easier to get things done in the aftermath?

Really?

That's day two Rich.
Day one...he comes out as a secret muslim terrorist.
Day two ....rip country apart with a scorched earth,fear and...
Didn't you get the memo ?[8|]

What day does he admit that he was a transgendered meth addict porn star in Thailand? Oh, whoa, hang on, that Republipac attack is scheduled for July.

One thing's for sure, the douches cannot now say that he doesn't have any experience. [8D]

TheHeretic -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/28/2012 11:17:34 PM)

No, Hippie,that cannot be said. It can however be argued that he still doesn't have a clue.

Well, I dont see how thats a hidden agenda, particularly since there is a law that says you can only be president twice.

Every president says they have more ability after the presidency, cuz they can tell individual congressmen or the entire congress to eat shit, and as private citizens are not unlawful (and oft times not wrong) in doing so.

The point is more like he can tell the American people to eat shit. He didn't think his remarks were going to be heard.

mnottertail -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/29/2012 1:54:03 PM)

Thanks for the heads up on that, meaningless as the whole thread is.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/president-obama-defends-flexibility-remarks-to-medvedev/2012/03/27/gIQA2GKZdS_story.html

...Obama called missile defense “extraordinarily complex, very technical” and said it would be virtually impossible to win broad consensus in Congress for any new major security agreements with Russia in an election year.

“First of all, are the mikes on?” Obama began, eliciting laughs.

Turning serious, he said: “I don’t think it’s any surprise that you can’t start that a few months before a presidential and congressional elections in the United States, and at a time when they just completed elections in Russia, and they’re in the process of a presidential transition where a new president is going to be coming in in a little less than two months.”

He added: “Frankly, the current environment is not conducive to those kinds of thoughtful consultations. The stories you guys have been writing over the last 24 hours is probably pretty good evidence of that. I think we’ll do better in 2013.”

Thats really a lot of rubbish coming from Obama after the fact. The fact that he got caught sayin what he did to a Russian dictator that he doesn't want the American people to hear. "This is my last election" is quite revealing "Ill have more flexibility after the election". Flexibility for what ? We all know Obama doesn't like nukes and we know the Russians especially don't like the fact we have missile defense capability. The odds are overwhelming that he's talking about flexibility on missile defense. Remember when Obama pulled the rug out on a missile defense system in Poland.

Why on Gods green earth, when we have such an enormous technical and strategic advantage over the rest of the world on missile defense, with no obligation what so ever to curtail any of it, would he cancel the missile defense system in Poland and now signal to the Russians but not to the American people (so he thought) that he's willing to deal.

Obama is weak and in way over his head.

Thats real funny slvemike. Here's a funny one for ya. When it comes to election time, your weakling socialist hack president will get his ass handed to him as I'm sure his opponent will make hay out of it to a great effect. It will make a good clip in a campaign commercial along with bowing down low and groveling to the Saudis and and Japanese not to mention all the apologies.

Meaningless to someone who is in the tank for Obama.

mnottertail -> RE: Obama's Hidden Agenda (3/29/2012 2:58:53 PM)

And it is somehow meaningful to those on the right because they cant field a candidate and those assclowns know the mike is on?

Waltz me thru that, I'm having trouble with the vision thingie.

That's why. It is indeed enormous. And so is Russia's....and dangerous. These aren't your Hiroshima nukes...it would only take a few for the dust fallout alone to kill off the earth.

Now, I'm thinking this is something we should deal with, especially since security isn't what it was in the former Soviet Union.

Or we could take your position, wait till one slips out into the wrong hands, and then we could destroy the earth in retaliation.

Come on.

I'm referring to the missile *defense system* not missiles and warheads. Russia is nowhere near us in missile defense capability. Thats why they have been apposed it for so many years and it's been a point of contention. Now they have Obama on their side. With Russian piss poor security it's all the more reason to have a defense system in place.
