Much less in the news...even if it should be...Is the heroic action of the typical American soldier.

Notice how much attention it is getting here. I guess it is more fun to demonize our fighting men then acknowledge their sacrifice.

There are always acts of courage that are not covered by the news... everywhere in the world.

That'll last 3 seconds.

They need to show us burning Korans (sp?) or something similar.

FOX may have carried it (I'd hope they did) but I first saw it on an independent site. (yahoo)

Not wishing to sound nitpicky, but if that's a "typical action" then it can't be "heroic".
One or the other, dig?

That's a non-sequitur. Don't even go there.

Whyever not?
Seriously, the heroic is by definition out of the ordinary. If this soldier's (exemplary) conduct is heroic, then it can't be a typical action, can it?

It is all relative Moon...by typical I mean this type of act and kindness is much more typical to our armed forces then the peeing on the dead and the acts of a mad man...so nit pick away it will not change the basic goodness of the American soldier.

Being heroic can mean someone exceptional but not necessarily so. IMO it can just mean someone who acts genuine bravery, makes sacrifices etc. so he qualifies.

I was just joking about the reception (excuse the pun) Fox gets on here...

I googled "soldier saves afghan girl" and got many pages of links to news coverage on it.

Typical of you and your like...ignore the acts of two million honorably serving men and women over the years but hang your hat on the actions of a few. Then raise holy hell if someone criticizes Muslims because you say we should not judge all Muslims on the acts of a few... well please at least be consistent.

Well it can't be twisted to make the US look bad nor the republicans, so my guess is it will be pretty much ignored.

That's how hearts and minds programmes work (or more commonly don't work at all), unfortunately: the vile shit overpowers the positive stuff.

It's how it works in the U.S. too. Perhaps Butch hasn't noticed yet.
