Yesterday we went to Generic Dude's father's house and once again, his father's wife turned a ham into shoe leather. The turkey was equally as appetizing.

Gotta ask, how do you do that to a ham? They are the easiest piece of meat to cook.

Some people just aren't cooks.

I think she just cooks it too long, tries to keep it warm. Doing stuff ahead of time and reheating.

She isn't a terrible cook. Just doesn't have a real talent for it beyond old school, midwestern farm style combined with too much cheater stuff.

Some southern cooks do that too. The longer you cook something, the better.

There are also people who think the smoke alarm is a kitchen timer.

So how'd the ham come out?

Here's a recipe for leftovers. (Feel free to omit the pimentos.)

Ham Tetrazzini

Ingredients

2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup diced ham
6 ounces spaghetti
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons chopped pimento peppers

Directions

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, saute chopped onion in butter until tender.
Stir in cream of mushroom soup, water, and shredded cheese. Heat mixture until cheese melts, stirring often.
Add ham, cooked and drained pasta, chopped pimento, and chopped parsley to saucepan; stir.
Stir until heated through, serve hot!

It also includes the spice packets, and does ham do well in crockpots? Can you do honey glazed ham in crockpot?

Do they deliver for that price?
