I've been told I was a "true slave" or "not a real slave" by so many different people it's pretty much lost all meaning to me after the past few years. My idea when I initially started was: Slave: hands full power over to their person in charge for the duration of the relationship. There is often, however, agreements on what will and won't be done before the commitment to ownership. Submissive: will conditionally submit but reserves the right to some level of freedom or independence some of the time or on certain issues on their own terms as part of the relationship. Using those definitions, I'm submissive to a man I submit to, a slave to a man I commit to, and neither for the general populace at large. But after many discussions, many different viewpoints, I realize that that's a simple duality that in no way reflects the realities of the thousands of different dominants, submissive, and switches out there and their various relationships. I'd recommend: find your definitions, advertise what you want, and if someone harangues you because they didn't like your definition? Well, they weren't worth your time.
