Neo-eugenics.

When you can no longer justify your bias by the way the guys you don't like, look. Let's all briefly notice that the things these guys are screening for cannot be determined with the test they are claiming to be using. However, a self fulfilling prophecy can be created.

What plant will spring from these seeds? And how much pain and travail will be required to eradicate it?

But wait, there's more. NPR also published these related stories on April 1st.

Yep, definitely a bunch of folks with more money than brains.

Personally, I'd never send my kid to a school like that.....but I guess in NYC, it's the thing to do. I couldn't believe it when my son was doing fractions in the first grade.....I didn't see a fraction until maybe the 5th grade or so.....and when my son was in the 5th grade, he needed a calculator for his math that had so many buttons on it, I'd need a degree just to turn the damn thing on!

But what really kills me is that pretty much all schools these days are teaching our kids how to use tools to do the work....the calculator is a perfect example. I asked my son once to show me his work on an algebra problem...he whipped out the calculator, and when I told him I wanted to see his work on paper, he looked at me like I had a second head on my shoulders. He couldn't do it! I asked him how he took a test, and he said he used the calculator. I asked him what happens when his batteries died, his response..."I have extras"....when I told him no he didn't, he then responded "I'd borrow some". When I was in school, if I'd even thought about using a calculator in math, chemistry or physics, I'd be nailed for cheating. Yep, I feel old!

The real world has become so bizarre, I have completely lost my ability to detect irony. Mea culpa.

I think it's kind of insulting to say parents who want their kids to go to this kind of school have more money than brains. this would be right up some kids alley's. Now the DNA testt o get in part I'd say screw that, even if i did have the money and a kid to do these kinda schools.

The only type I can think of that would subject their kids to this are folks with more money than brains. I would wager that THAT is the main thing they screen for, under the guise of it being to check for good DNA.

I'll take "People are morons" for $100, Alex.

Speaking of April Fool's, I totally missed what day it was. So my daughter said she had something serious to talk to me about, I stop what I'm doing, and she said "I'm pregnant". Apparently I turned white as a sheet and she rushed to say April Fool's because she thought I was going to pass out. Rotten child.
