Well the equinox was actually March 20th, but close enough: the long, lazy days of summer coming, the time young men's fancies turn to the delights beneath women's skirts, and old women dream of resurrecting their old men.

Damn, I wish there was some horny old lady to dance around my maypole right now, I believe I could put a smile on her face.

Seriously, this is the one time of year women wear dresses, I sure do miss that, something about the way a skirt hugs a woman's hips and swishes around her thighs, that soft bosom swelling beneath that thin, loose cotton, it's just mmm, mmm, mmm, like warm Strawberry pie, makes you just want to eat 'em, at least nibble on 'em a little bit.

Good thing all these chaste church ladies can't read my mind...

Happy newlife.

I had the perfect Easter. Wore a beautiful new dress and had lamb for dinner

And I'll bet it was tasty.

The lamb was probably pretty good too.

When Zombie Jesus shambles up behind him and eats his brain, then he'll see the error of his ways.

The compulsion to publicly share that on Easter, however, goes beyond a personal belief.

Well yeah, because it's not a personal belief, it's a fun Pastafarian holiday.

I like Eckhard Tolle's take, that the problem arises when we try to define the infinite.

And the good news is .........

If you ignore Easter, eventually it will go away all of its own accord ..... Hallelujah!

I think most organized religions are any combination of evil/sad/pathetic/scare-mongers/weak/over-bearing.

What I find to be the most pathetic of the bunch are the religions that have no purpose except to ridicule other religions. Talk about soft ground upon which to build a foundation!

Peace and comfort,

Michael

True. Interestingly, I can't recall any comparable threads for Passover or Ramadan.

Zombie Jesus Day is a much more popular holiday than either Ramendan or Pastaover, it does involve dressing up like zombies and drinking heavily after all.

Look at it this way, which are you wished more frequently Merry Christmas or Merry Lent?

As an Erisian (some days), I think it is a good way to make a religion. At least when folks mock my religion, I just laugh with them. There are folks in some religions who respond to burning their books or mocking their religion like... well, like some folks on this thread, or by killing people, or otherwise by getting pretty negative...
Edit because I put my words before the quote... But since I am here again:
I love the movie Dogma, but I remember how difficult it was to rent cause Xtians were renting it and then throwing it away or something to "protect people's souls." Frankly, if you can't laugh at the movie Dogma, you are too serious about your faith. If you can, your faith will probably be stronger for it.

Yep.... Atheist do sometimes see the Easter story as having parallels to a zombie story.

I wouldn't say parallels, Easter is clearly a story of zombie reanimation. The guy was walking around with an unhealed fatal stab wound during a zombie uprising. I don't think the Bible could be much more obvious on the subject.

You're not doing bad in the "obvious" department either.

What's all this about this Jesus guy? I thought Easter was a chocolate festival?

I'm under the impression that it's an early experiment in social darwinism where young children are taught that the brown eggs which rabbits poop are enjoyably edible in order to weed out the less intelligent.

Actually, given the proximity to April Fools, I think it was more of a practical joke (brown eggs which rabbits poop are enjoyably edible) by one of those folks who you never know if he's serious. He died before he could admit it was a joke, and here we are years later, still doing it...

Christianity, it's true, is a majority religion in the U.S., and I do think that's a factor.

Someone ridiculing Judaism or Islam would, I suspect, more likely be called out as a bigot.

Mocking Christianity, though, is safe--which makes it a handy target for poseurs with little wit or courage, but an eagerness to show off how-oh-so sophisticated they are.

Of course, that's just a theory.

I used to go to great pains to avoid offending christian's tender sensibilities, all in the name of being "tolerant".  Then, they decided to get all obnoxious about Christmas, and the whole meaningless debate about saying "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas.  I started getting very intolerant emails demanding that I call it Christmas, since it was "their holiday".  Strangers I was standing in line with at department stores started lecturing me, pretty intolerantly, about "Baby Jesus's Birthday".  Whatever.

So, if I want to make fun of Easter, or any other tradition I choose to, anyone who doesn't like it can line up, anytime, anywhere, and kiss my ass.  It seems to me that Easter is the holiday of false hope.  But, if you need that kind of thing, I guess false hope is better than no hope at all.  Plus it is an excuse to wear a pretty new dress and eat lamb for dinner, both of which I did.  And it marks the date when you can start wearing white again.  So, it really isn't such a bad holiday.

Were the less intelligent those that couldn't be taught?

Not sure if its a practical joke - I have heard by repute that the brown eggs MyOther lays are supposed to be delish...
