cenladom -> References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 1:33:23 PM)

Should a pre-owned slave be able to provide a reference from their former Master? As a Master, would you object to providing information to a potential new owner? I have considered, and decided against owning several slaves because their pasts were so vague. I want to know the slave was released by their Master, and why. I've released slaves and provided them with a document of release which included my contact information for a potential new Master to contact me.

Give me your thoughts.

I would agree that information should be provided. If not then take ur time wit assessment and eval.

Lockit -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 2:11:09 PM)

Why would I trust another dominant that I don't know, any more than someone I am considering? Honestly, I would check out the person if I felt something were wrong. How I did that would depend on the situation. I surely wouldn't expect all my ex's to say good things about me... some of them lied to be close to me and I called them on it. Check out the person you are involved with... don't count on strangers to do what you should be doing.

That attitude of a dom will always tell the truth or that an ex will... over a submissive... is bull shit.

Unless you are able to magically turn yourself into her previous master in respect
to personality, temperament, rules, protocol, habits, etc, I don't see where a letter
or recommendation would benefit you in establishing your relationship with her.
People behave differently with each individual person, and what her former master
may feel was unfavorable may have had more to do with his actions than hers.

DesFIP -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 2:18:36 PM)

Only if your ex will provide a reference for you.

Honestly, if your relationship was that great and that amicable, then why did you split up?

Beyond that, if it's an online contact, then I wouldn't believe it anyway. I'd assume it was you writing your own reference under a sock puppet.

If you knew them in real life, then why wouldn't you already have engaged in conversation as to what went wrong.

But overall, if your ability to tell if a person will be compatible is that poor, that you need someone else to tell you what did and didn't work in their relationship, I'd think that no matter what went right in that relationship it is still bound to fail in yours. Because it's about the relationship. If you can't inspire submission, then it doesn't matter that master x did. Because that doesn't translate over.

How many sets of papers do we need to play or be partner to someone? Let's see... we have the papers that state we are clean... the papers from former owners or submissives/slaves... what next? [:D] Oh yes, contracts... pre nups... next? There is reasonable and then there is anal or lacking in personal aspects that make us healthy adults, ready to play or interact in an adult world.

Its nice to see someone taking this so seriously. Its about time someone did.

Its always good to get papers from the previous owner just in case the slave catchers show up at your door with the bloodhounds.

My ex and I are still friends and he refers work to me quite often. Just because we weren't meant to be together as a couple, doesn't mean that we don't like each other.

DarkSteven -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 2:35:13 PM)

I have no problem giving a reference if things split amicably. That would be a verbal reference, based upon my knowledge of myself and my ex, and why things broke up. What went well, what didn't.

That may not be sufficient.   It would depend on whether there were reciprocol Masters agreements if it went state to state.

One state you are a Master, and next state over, you're just looking for a blowjob.....

RumpusParable -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 2:40:48 PM)

I don't believe in relationship references. No one is going to say, "this is the name and number of someone I physically and mentally abused for X amount of time".

tj444 -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 2:44:35 PM)

Some landlords give problem tenants they are trying hard to get rid of a glowing reference.. sooooo, if a Master/Owner is trying to get rid of his slave and unload her/him onto some other sucker, er I mean Owner .. what would his reference be worth?? [:D]

I would never in a million years think to ask for a reference on a person I am considering for relationship material.

In thinking about this even more.......if I had asked Generic Dude's ex for a reference, and believed it, I wouldn't have gotten within 100 feet of the guy.[:D]

That seems wise. I wouldn't want to be in any kind of relationship with someone who insisted on having a "vague" past.

May I ask you something? Are these slave candidates who are asking for relocation costs to be owned by you?

MissImmortalPain -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 3:57:14 PM)

I wouldn't ask for one and if given one I wouldn't believe it. But I don't trust other people they have a habit of lieing about things for the silliest reasons.

Alecta -> RE: References for preowned slaves (4/25/2012 4:01:03 PM)

I always ask about history.
Sometimes I ask for references, but really I'm more interested to see what happens when I ask for them than the actual reference.

That's EXACTLY what I thought! And you can't trust those things either!

Why would I need the word of someone else to prove my decency and integrity? Welcome to the real world... where people create their own relationships instead of stepping into those pre-fab kind.

This was my thought - that perhaps the potentials are actually scammers looking to score "relocation costs."
