It doesn't matter what kind of show it is. Anyone that encourages rape... especially with what could be a minor... and the rape of gay people because they are gay, isn't saying something politically incorrect. They are encouraging a crime on many levels.

Corrective rape

Lesbians Escape From Ecuador's "Ex-Gay" Torture Centers

While LGBT folks in the U.S. deal with religious institutions that encourage so-called reparative therapy, antigay advocates in Latin America are taking that quest to a much darker level. For the past decade, lesbians in Ecuador have been forced into what they call torture camps aimed at making them straight.

When Paola Ziritti was 24, her parents sent her to a “forced confinement” clinic in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where — unbeknownst to her parents — she experienced “battering, sexual abuse, deprivation of all kinds, and constant [ridicule],” according to Anne Vigna in the French magazine Tetu.

It took over a year for Ziritti’s mother to free her from the torture, and another six months of “real psychological treatment ... to try to recover from his ‘cure against homosexuality,’” said Ziritti, who was the first woman to agree to file a complaint against these treatments. Her testimony was crucial in helping to close the clinic that tortured and humiliated her — and others like it, said Tatiana Velasquez, from the lesbian organization Taller de Comunicación Mujer. Activists got the government to close 27 of these “treatment centers” in August, but there are still 207 clinics of this type, said Velasquez. “For 10 years we have been aware of 30 cases of lesbians,” she said. Those are just the escapees, the un-reformed, so to speak.

In September two lesbians who escaped from two different clinics filed complaints. The international feminist organization CLADEM urged Ecuadorian officials to instigate “a serious investigation into these illegal and degrading practices and the closure of these centers.”

These clinics have also imprisoned gay, bisexual, transgender, and cross-dressing people, to a lesser extent than lesbians, “probably because they get to leave the family earlier than girls,” said Velasquez. “The girls have all told the same thing: They are threatened with rape or raped, handcuffed, starved and forced to dress like prostitutes.”

Now human rights activists and Ecuadorian officials seem to be paying closer attention to the issue.

Kali, thanks for pointing out that this occurs (I had assumed people knew this). Decades ago if you went to gay/lesbian clubs even in the U.S. you were always in risk of being raped, particularly as a woman. Most of the clubs were underground, and had passwords and other things to gain admittance, and there was always fear of people finding out of the very existence of the clubs (particularly in smaller cities or more rural areas).

Also, as a bisexual woman myself, I always hear stories of women who were raped, often by classmates, or even family members, if they were suspected of being lesbian. I am quite sure that these stories are not urban myth but a very sad reality. And while these things may happen with less frequency in the U.S. today, I am also quite sure that they still happen.

Homophobia is still quite alive and well in this country despite what we might see in the media and Hollywood.

What the fuck is your problem? What do G Gordon Liddy and Rush have to do with this jackass in Cleveland? His ignorant recommendation has absolutely nothing to do being PC or not being PC. It has everything to do with being ignorant and stupid. I don't care which side of the aisle this DJ sits on. His recommendation was beyond ignorant and stupid. He showed what I like to call, "aggressive ignorance."

Perhaps you didn't understand what I was saying regarding PC-ness. Perhaps you thought I was supporting the DJ. Perhaps you should stop reading what I write with anti-Desideri glasses. You might find some things out.

i had the same initial thought as you. they're making the logical jump, that any straight sex with the daughter could never be consensual, since she's not straight. so it would be rape.

the other side of that coin no one wants to admit, is that the shock jock also made what he considered a logical jump (however unlikely it is) - that it's possible for a gay person to have straight sex without it being rape. there's a name for that - it's called being bi, or bi-curious.
