How does bringing up a subject that might would have helped someone result in arguing?

the first words out of his mouth were that i deserved a virus, and asked me if i let my dick lead me.

of course i don't put up with that bullshit. now he's trying to turn it around on me. hilarious.

i'm just going to be really blunt here. this is not the first thread that i've started, with sincere intentions to help others, and/or perhaps even offer suggestions for improvement on the board, or just contribute.

The problem is that your posts do not read as though you have sincere intentions to help others or offer suggestions or contributions.

They read as arrogant.

Your tone comes across as though you are all knowing and should immediately bow down to you. To be frank, this is incredibly unpleasant.

When you add to that a tendency to attack others personally who criticize your ideas, and not your person, it may explain to you why you have not been welcomed with open arms.

okay, thank you, i can accept that as constructive criticism.

sorry i come off as arrogant - i am who i am, and won't apologize that some people can take my offer of advice as arrogant. i'm sure you're right, that i could spend a lot of time trying to craft my messages to seem more humble. i will actually try to do that.

at the same time, i think anyone who saw what was really a sincere effort to help other people as some personal attack on them, that they needed to respond disparagingly, speaks more to where their head is at (insecurity or lack of self worth perhaps?).

peace

edit ps- i think it's disingenuous to claim sub was merely attacking my ideas, and not me personally. she has a history of this as well. and for christ's sake, read her words.

You admit that you could come off as arrogant, and in the next breath suggest anyone who was a sarcastic towards you because you come off that way might have

Make up your mind already.

read words, and sheesh, give it up.

Your own "issues" gave you the incessant need to negatively chime in on yet one more of my posts/threads.

It isn't just a few... many are watching you speak down to people, insult, call names and act as you have for the last month. The bottom line is, that will result in eventual personal comments.

I believe that someone that is easily offended as your many posts have shown that you are, is someone insecure or argumentative because they don't like to be challenged or proven wrong. Then the threads and attitudes blend in other threads.

It is nice to try to warn people... though a lot of people wouldn't do what you did or knew already that people were doing this, but as a result of prior posts where you tell people what they are doing right or wrong in how they post, etc. and that etc. is important... this is what happens.

No, your holier than thou attitude, which you exhibited in threads you did and did not start caused me to chime in.

Just because I didn't say it in a manner you approve of does not make me any less right than someone who has offered you "constructive criticism" in a manner you find acceptable.

The only issues I have are a buncha old EasyRiders and National Geographics.

thanks, yes, i understand you're saying you believe the way i communicate speaks down to people. i re-read my OP several times, and honestly don't see that.

to me, my writing comes off perhaps as trying to sound clear and authoritative. this is a big part of what i do IRL, writing procedures, documents, Etc. it's ingrained in me to be this way, and to not pretend to be loopy or unsure of my words. people IRL don't respond to policies or standard operating procedures that are wishy-washy.

and re disagreeing with people, i think you yourself have experienced both sides of me. i'm simply reflecting how you yourself treat me. if you approach me with respect (as you just did), then i happily return it. the prior times you didn't, i didn't.

i know i need to tailor my message to the audience, and this isn't an operating procedure. but heck, it's just me offering up my own foibles and info. give a guy a break? well, i took your point, thank you for your advice.
