AAkasha -> Subs that won't stop staring (5/5/2012 12:16:37 PM)

Ladies, do you approach subs who stare at you at parties or fetish events and ask them to stop? What if they follow you around and don't approach you, but continue to stare?

I am not talking about "watching you scene" at a public party, or giving you an appreciative glance. I am talking about staring.

I have been told that I can have a damned frosty look when annoyed, so far it solved most of the staring and they do tend to shuffle off, in case they don't I'd kindly ask them to get lost.

Actually, I'm not too concerned about it.  More often, I'm apt to notice the wallflowers in the crowd.  The ones that you can tell are just shy either by their body language or the look on their face that there is something that is making them hesitate about at least involving themselves in the social aspect of the evening.  I've gotten more than one to come out of their shells over the years.  It's one of the better aspects of My personality.

If it's just gawking, I generally don't care much.  I'm usually much more concerned about other things.

(ETA: FR)

I've mentioned it to a DM once or twice, and let them deal with it.

If someone's new and freaked then I don't want to be nasty to them, and if it's a repeat offender then they need to be dealt with by someone with an overview of the situation, who has the authority to take formal steps. In either case they aren't my responsibility - I'm just there to have fun.

That happened to Me a couple of times. At first I thought it was some random guys starring at My twins, until they finally approached kneeling. Then I realized what was going on. This wasn't even a BDSM event, it was just a party. I always told them "no need to kneel, I don't own you". Creepy. And then there were the ones who were looking at My twins like they had superman x-ray vision. *rolls eyes*

Thank you for saving some of my kind : p

If they are actively following, then they are allowed to STOP NOW. Wallflowers, I often help out--we usually have a greeter type person at local events.

NiceButMeanGirl -> RE: Subs that won't stop staring (5/5/2012 6:17:22 PM)

I usually go up to them and say something along the order of "Well, instead of just staring, why don't you start up a conversation with me? I don't bite unless it's consensual" and then I [;)]. If they're just shy, that usually breaks the ice. If they're weirdos, they usually shuffle off mumbling and looking at the floor.

Captain Thomas would advise you to address creepy crawlers in this way:

"LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE!"

(fast reply)

There was a guy that used to follow me around parties. You'd turn around and OMG!! there he was ... standing just off your elbow. It was creepy but I'm a social sort and he most certainly wasn't the type of guy to scare me. So, ... I went over and started a conversation with him. It was friendly, vanilla, and normal. Well, on my part, lol - on his part it was very monosyllabic - lol.

He left me alone after that. Guess he wasn't really sure what to do with a real person.

At life style parties i always strive to be a ... wall flower ... (well, used to, anyway)

Makes a guy far more appealing to the Domme! [;)]

Even in vanilla .... staring doesn't get a guy ... anywhere. [:)]

Ha, just one coffee and you realize what a delicate flower I am, easily intimidated and all, oh yeah, and I blend in with the dogs, LOL!

I tolerate socially awkward guys because my brother has disabilities that make him unable to read social cues.

As to creepy guys (and I realize this is subjective) I've chased them off or asked someone else to do so.

There's an excellent quote by Oscar Wilde re this somewhere, though I can't find the bloody thing. Anyway, it goes something like,

'It is the mark of a mediocre celebrity that he never gets used to being stared at.'

(You have to filter that through Oscar's usual wit. And imagine it said more cleverly, of course.)

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Subs that won't stop staring (5/7/2012 12:30:17 PM)

People have been staring at me my whole life. Pointing, too. Hm.

I may glare at you later, Darling. [8|]

So .... have You gotten used to the staring yet? [;)] Or are You simply a mediocre celebrity? [;)]

AngelOfSilence -> RE: Subs that won't stop staring (5/10/2012 8:38:30 PM)

No. I gouge their eyes out with a plastic spoon. I really wish they'd put out proper metal spoons at those events.

WTF, over?

Seriously....you can't be that upset about guys looking at you?

Really?

Seriously....you're kidding me?

If we don't look at you....we're gay.

If we do (of course)....we're pigs.....

Deal with it chickies....you're fine...you got some fine lookin' stuff to check out.

Gawdamn....we're fucked if we even try.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Subs that won't stop staring (5/11/2012 2:44:52 AM)

Nookie you make a great point...well done.

AAkash, I don't really see why it matters if people stare. Personally I treat "subs" that stare the same way I do kids that stare. I wave, smile, and say "hi" Most of them smile back and say "hi" Some run or hide, but really who cares?

*Clarity* Or maybe I'm just used to it at this point. You don't get tattoos, piercing, dye your hair rainbow colours, and have a limb removed without figuring someone is going to stare at you [:D]

Advice- Enjoy it, or get over youself, you would be pissed if they weren't looking at you at all.
