hmm is it true that a lot of Doms on here mail each other about conversations they have had with submissives and gossip about them.. cause thats what im being told by some random stranger that seems to know my name and stuff?

Not that I know of... most times that statement is followed with you're not a female, and they want you to prove it by camming for them... just a ploy to get to see a nekkid chick to wank off to...

Maybe they know you in real life or maybe you have talked to them before and they just made a new profile to talk to you again...

Um, what is it they are supposed to gossip about? Is this the old one about the "you will be booted off collarme because you're really a man" line? There have been men who go to the effort to create sock accounts to give the impression that there are a group of them.

I do talk with other Dom/mes about subs I've interacted with and they tell me about the same. I've had Dom/mes contact me about subs we both knew too. It's all about reputation and reference checking. DarkSteven, group sock accounts? That's just plain creepy. I don't doubt ya for a bit, but still...just...wow.

no he didnt say about me being fake or anything like that (id find that amusing) just more that he knew stuff about me (which was kinda odd)

Yup spin. We keep tabs on good and bad subs, to know who to grab when one becomes available and who to warn a friend off from. Helps a lot in dealing with the HNGs and psycho bitch subs [pardon my English] on here. Let me give you an example that happened to me recently. A sub contacted me whom I'd heard of and who had a good rep. So I started chatting with him for a few weeks, we met and sparks flew...all was well, but then he wouldn't do a journal entry that I ordered him to do. I punished him by denying him My company for 48 hours, my sop. Well, while he was on probation, a couple of Dommes contacted me to let me know that he was catting around contacting other Dommes behind my back. I thanked them for the info and dropped him without telling him why and he never asked. Trust is the currency of our realm, without that, nothing happens. Well, that fool has ruined his once good reputation. Other Dommes now know about him and he's changed the town listed on his CM profile to another over 100 miles away. I don't think anyone in NE FL will have anything to do with him.

People talk, people gossip, some people are not to be trusted. You gave your phone number out after knowing someone for less than 2 days. Then you wonder why, after a few days, you are embroiled in online drama? Seriously ask yourself why that is. B/c if it's phone and online, you can step away from it very easily.

yeah I gave my number out..didnt see the big deal in it not especially as i was hoping to meet someone...i mean, if i met someone on a night out id probably give them my number if they seemed okay

It's ok about giving out your number, spin. We all go through our learning curves here on CM. You'll figure out what works for you about when to do that. I'm sure you'll be more cautious about it in the future. You were smart to come to the forums and ask tho. Bully for you!

You are an adult, if you want to give someone your phone number then do it... I give out my phone number to people, though usually after I have talked for a bit.. I have talked on the phone right off the bat though, trust your instincts and gut feelings about things.

We do talk about some of what we read here. It's always possible that I might find myself talking about you with one of them. But I certainly have no organized "dom mailing list" where all us doms exchange notes. What would that even mean? A bunch of folks who ticked off "Dom" on the checkbox comparing notes? I'd be more interested in "people I respect" than "people who ticked off the dom checkbox".
