Here is the OP question to start this thread: How did Wisconsin gain 23,321 jobs as Gov. Walker says yet lose a whopping 30,100 jobs as Mr. Ed (gleefully, btw) on MSNBC quotes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and uses this number to paint Gov. Walker a liar on national cable T.V. ?

The quick answer is that, as long as you're not talking about NET jobs, both statistics could be true.

this naturally (naturally after watching how MSNBC works) gets my suspicion up since the question was completely and deftly side stepped, and so well btw. So, is Walker a liar or not? What's going on here?

Good question. Either Barrett doesn't want to have to defend his own record for Milwaukee, or he figures that if the whole conversation devolves into something like this thread in which everyone argues over numbers, it doesn't work for him. When people argue over whether the jobs are seasonal ones for HS kids or what the ratio of union to nonunion jobs are, etc., most people just phase it out. I suspect that people will vote based upon sentiment, which includes all kinds of difficult-to-measure stuff like quality of jobs, pay and benefits, etc.
