hejira92 -> How to wear a rubber/latex dress (5/23/2012 10:52:03 AM)

So, I'm going to wear a beautiful latex rubber dress to the Fetish Factory Anniversary Dinner this weekend and I've gotten conflicting advice on how to wear it. I've always been a leather/corset girl and this is new to me. Do you recommend I cover myself in talc or lube before donning the dress?

I've been told talc can get clumpy with sweat (and that I will sweat in this type of dress). But I think the lube may feel too.... squishy.

Advice, please?

I have always used pure corn starch. The main ingredient in powder. It has never felt clump to me. You can also use antiperspirent on your skin to help reduced sweating. May I suggest trying it at home for an evening first to see how it feels?

I use Vivishine, a silicone-based conditioner. It works much better than cornstarch, IMO. (I've tried both.) Vivishine is a bit oily and can feel cold and slimy going on, but once you're dressed and the latex warms to your body, you won't notice it at all. It also has the added benefit of acting as a lube and shine all in one.

To use Vivishine, wash your dress in a bathroom sink full of lukewarm water with a teaspoon or so of the silicone oil added. Just swish the dress around until the whole thing is coated. Put it on a plastic hanger and hang it from your shower curtain to dry. When it's time to dress, you can use a makeup sponge or your hands to add a bit more Vivishine to the inside of the dress if you need more lube.

I second Mummyman's suggestion about trying on the dress the day before to see how much time and lube you need to get into it. I also recommend stepping into the dress, if possible, as opposed to trying to put it on over your head. The latex will catch on and pull your hair, which is less than fun. If it has to go on over your head, I recommend putting your hair up in a net or cap of some kind.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I will probably need to use cornstarch this weekend, but will seek to obtain the Vivishine for next time.

You're very welcome. And if you wanted to post pics of you in said dress, that would be a welcome addition. Just sayin. [;)]

Sylvere,
I never knew you were such a latex fan? Had I known I would have been hitting on you all along [:D]

I am going to have to try the Vivishine. I have not used that before.

hejira92.....oh please do post some pics if you can. We all want to see the dress!

I use pjur personally, but I haven't really tried anything else. Dealing with powder doesn't seem appealing to me, and I'm shining the outside with it anyway so I figure it's a two birds kind of thing.

I haven't always been a fan but an ex-play partner introduced me to it a couple of years ago and I'm completely hooked now. [:D] I have a couple of photos of my newest dress on my profile.

I got the Vivishine on the recommendation of some of the folks in the Latex Lovers group on FetLife and I've been very happy with it. I got it from TwistMyRubberArm.com for a reasonable price but I'm sure you can find it from other sources as well. If you use it, invest in some Dawn dish washing liquid too because that stuff makes your sink or tub crazy slick and regular soap doesn't get it off as well as Dawn does.

Sylvere,
Okay you just had to go make me look at your pictures.......I think I need to go take a cold shower now. Can I interest you in a rubber mummy sometime?[:)]

I do like the items from TwistMyRubberArm.com. Wish they offered some larger sizes though

hejira,
Please lets us know what you decide and how it goes. We latex lovers want to know! :)

Thanks for all the help!!! Party Success!!! I've posted a picture of me (with Sir, of course) in my profile, if you would like to see how I look in my first foray into latex.

(I would post it to the thread, but I am technologically challenged. [:)])

You do make a cute couple. The dress is absolutely stunning and you are very beautiful.

Please tell us did you use talc/corn starch for the dress? How did it work out? How long did you wear the dress?

Buzzzz -> RE: How to wear a rubber/latex dress (5/27/2012 4:53:59 AM)

Always used pjur. Put it on her (fun) put dress on and then. Put more pjur on the outside of the dress and voila !!!!

hejira92 -> RE: How to wear a rubber/latex dress (5/27/2012 6:23:41 AM)

I was running late, and had pjur in the house, so I just used that. I don't think I used enough, though, because at the end of the evening ( I had worn the dress about 6-7 hours), Sir had to peel it off like a band-aid. Which I think He enjoyed! lol! I rinsed it off in the sink with some mild shampoo and laid it over a towel on the edge of the tub to dry. I was told to be careful and not let it touch any metal. Did I do this properly? Is there anything else I need to do? I will not be wearing it again until Fetcon in August.

blimey hejira, you look bloody wonderful in your photo's!

i have very little personal experience with latex, but He wears it very well. He always uses a silicone lube, i think, when he wears his. i've used that too on mine. i love the way it feels on the skin; that slip and slide is wonderful.
