the Bdsm world?
 
To me it was finding the Real me!
Knowing that I had a purpose.

I am a Top, nothing else..
We have a slave and have had several subs, but I HATE the term Master. Mistress on the other hand I don't mind for her. Find I control things not because I like to or feel the need to, I do it simply because I do. But that sadistic side comes out in almost everything I touch. Dominant or not I will ALWAYS find a way to get a little salt in the wound, even if I have to do it to myself.

What does  it mean....Wow thats a broad question for Me.

I find Myself feeling like it means many things...often depending on who I am with at the moment.That can also sometimes cross over into the Vanilla life also.

With slave bishop its very different than with any of the male submissives.Because W/we are also a committed couple I treat her different.
There is of course the difference between the males that see Me as a Pro,and the one that is My pet.

The number One thing...is finding the role I was meant to be in.
Like knees2you said...A purpose in Life.

It means letting myself go, really letting myself slip into that wonderful other world that I crave so badly.  It means giving myself to One wholly, and feeling the complete satisfaction of pleasing Him. 

For me most importantly my role in BDSM fulfills a part of my vanilla life that cannot be satisfied otherwise.

I'm also a pain slut.  And a headspace slut.  And a total attention whore.  :)

Status: offline 		I'm no different dealing with other people in BDSM than I am when I'm dealing with "nillas" - I am simply myself, all the time, with all the human foibles and frailties - as well as those rare moments of true brilliance - that all of us are capable of.
 
Why should I NEED to act any differently?  This isn't ALL of my life - it's simply one small portion of my overall personality.  People can love me or hate me, enjoy what I do or detest it - none of that is going to change who I am, what I like, or whether I shake life for all it's worth and then lick up the crumbs that fall while I'm shaking it.
 
Pain junkie, sometimes submissive, sometimes dominant, sometimes a bit of both at the same time - masochist with more than a touch of the sadistic beastie in me as well - but those are only small portions of the whole, and will never come close to ultimately defining who I am.

I view my chosen role as just one facet of my personality.  It doesn't define who I am, but it does allow me to live in an alternate universe with very few boundaries.  I consider the dom space or sub space to be an altered state of consciousness and very much akin to meditation.  It allows me the freedom to live in that space without having to ask how or why, and for what purpose does it serve.
