Gee, maybe if the Catholic Church wins, the US government can go bankrupt. Kinda like those Catholic parishes did when they got judgments against them because of their priests sexually abusing kids.

MSNBC's website does not count. While respected, PBS news is not on a major network. So, it seems that only CBS aired anything significate and you agre with that? Ok. But why was that do you think?

Its 2012, not 1981. People get their information from more than just one source these days (except apparently conservatives that watch only FOX News). If the information was on its website, that counts just the same as if it was pushed to a TV screen. Its seriously amusing your trying to nitpick your arguement and no one is abiding by your 'tunnel vision' like view of how information is accessed and viewed. Your original arguement was found to be both false and misleading. Why not go for an internship at FOX News....

I wonder if the emergence of this thread has anything to do with Fargle's latest thread "Scumbag Catholic Church ......."

I was looking forward to Arturas' contribution to Fargle's thread but, last time I checked, there wasn't any post from Arturas there. I found this a little odd as Arturas is usually so quick to defend the Church from any criticism. Is it possible that there is a connection ..........?

These news networks have been silent about the Mega Lawsuit filed three days ago by the Catholic Church against President Obama. It is the largest lawsuit in American History., "Many" (I am speaking in MSNBCese here) cannot but feel they are suppressing the news because it might harm the President. Is that a fair assessment?

Or maybe they covered it but you simply made up your own reality to attack the President.

For instance do you have any evidence that any of the suits name the President, specifically, as a defendant? If not how could any of the suits be the biggest ever againsta sitting President?

According to news reports the suit is agains the "Obama Administration" and I assume the "buck stops there" as it did for other presidents. Yes. I think that is the case. So, since it is the biggest suit against an administration and Obama is the head of that administration it seems reality applies here and I am simply wanting feedback as to why two of the three major networks failed to report anything about it. Now, let's assume this is NOT the biggest suit against a sitting President, does that explain two of the three major networks ignored a less than biggest suit by the Catholic Church against, not the U.S. Government, but the Obama Administration and so since the size of the suit is less important than the the fact that it is happening, then perhaps you might comment on why two of the three failed to report it?

You might also quote whatever I said to "attack on the President" since we are talking about reality here.

Every network covered it, a simple google search reveals the transcripts of all their stories. You've bought into the right wing hate media's lies.

So none of the suits name the President as a defendant. They certainly aren't the most lawsuits filed over a policy before (19 suits is miniscule for a federal policy). You got your claim about the TV networks from the RW hate media which simply always lies (newsbusters right? they seem to be the ones pushing the meme hardest).

Nope. And some of us feel it's the biggest perversion of religion in the entirety of the new testament.
It got plenty of press for the 5 minutes it deserved.

But since it's of such 'grave concern' to you, I'm fine with paying little or no attention till it gets WAY PAST the service of a summons and complaint being served and no legal meat yet in the public (COURTROOM) forum. The difference between your emphasis and mine goes to an understanding of civil process and you are placing importance on public rhetoric rather than anything really to do with the case.
What you are being a mouthpiece to is the fact that the POSTURING ATTORNEYS don't feel they are being sensationalized enough.
Forgive me if i find it laughable someone is taking the bait.
Go figure

Yeah ... well there's a problem with that too though. See since the case's actual damages would be complete bullshit, the big cash-in is in punitive damages... which can't be escaped in bankruptcy.

I guess they're trying to raise money to pay for all the settlements ordered because of decades worth of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and the associated supression of facts related to such activities.

Do you really think that kind of reply is appropriate, on subject and factual? I don't feel so. Your post repels me and think it best to just block you from now on.

I think it is on subject and according to decisions handed down by our courts and a lot of ex priests who are now in jail, it IS factual.

If my post repels you, tough shit. Take it up with the ones who sanctioned sexual abuse of minors. Those are the ones who repel Me.

The only thing that repels Me more than them is those who actually defend that subhuman scum as you appear to be doing.

mnottertail -> RE: NBC, CBS, ABC are silent on the largest lawsuit ever filed against a sitting President. (5/25/2012 9:41:17 AM)

What lawsuit is this?  I have never heard of it, and neither has anyone else. There is absolutely no coverage of this anywhere and I looked at all media, including neo-con blogs.

If you have the ability to post here why do you lack the ability to find what you claim is not there but those with a three digit iq and a pulse have shown to be there?

It is quite clear to the most casual observer that they did cover it. How that fact managed to escape you is most instructive.

I have this, but no Archdiocese of Washington and New York v Barak Hussein Obama
or
Archdiocese of Washington and New York v President of the United States

When Notre Dame sued on this same issue about 8 years ago 5 republican  state supreme court justices out of 6 told them to hit the road.

So far you have failed to post anything factual.
You would be well served to use the block button...it will protect you from the facts that would shed light on your infantile insipid post, and thus disabuse you of your self imposed ignorance.

Obama has been going at this health care thing for 3 years now and there seems to be no end in sight.. So if he loses the next election then what? the Rs will repeal the health care bill or what? How is it that other sensible countries can have universal health care and not make a huge mess of it like the US has??? [8|]

Why does anything and everything have to be so friggin difficult and complicated in the US??? Not just at the federal level but state, county, city levels also.. Its really no wonder the US is in the mess its in..

Even huffnpooo have had it on their front page for two days, as for the networks, it made the news here in CA< but I dont watch the news on the mentioned stations. .maybe they're showing it the contempt it deserves?

Interesting post. You suggest they (the networks) are possibly showing contempt for the actions of the Catholic Church? That's a lot of their audience.

When I took arithmatic in grammar school, sister mary penguin made it quite clear that it was impossible to do long division with numbers like "a lot".
In your world what sort of number is "a lot"?

quote:

I was under the impression they (the Church) were being forced to offer insurance plans that must pay for contraceptives in their non-church institutions like schools and hospitals and felt this was something they cannot do as it voilates church doctrine and even though they do not force the employees of these non-church institutions to be church members and follow church doctrine they still cannot (be expected to) support non-doctrine actions with church money.

Your "impression is wrong.
They are being forced to obey the law just like eveyone else.

quote:

Thus, they have filed suit alleging a violation of religious freedom, I think. Those of you who are history buffs remember Thanksgiving orginated with the Puritans who fled to America for religious freedom.

I would sugest that you acquire a history book written for someone beyond the fifth grade. Just to bring you up to speed until you acquire such a text. The puritans embraced a line from Psalms 2:8.
"Ask of me, and I shall give thee, the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession."
So it would appear that god was their real estate agent.
Some Puritans argued that the land belonged to the Indians. These forces were excommunicated and expelled. Massachusetts Governor Winthrop declared the Indians had not "subdued" the land, and therefore all uncultivated lands should, according to English Common Law, be considered "public domain." This meant they belonged to the king. In short, the colonists decided they did not need to consult the Indians when they seized new lands, they only had to consult the representative of the crown (meaning the local governor).

quote:

You decided to mention the suit deserves contempt. I can't see why so perhaps you would explain why the suit deserves contempt?

The suit deserves contempt for the reason that it seeks to exempt a particular group from the laws of the u.s. Why is that such a foriegn concept to you?
