My favorite cable channel, MSNBC, informed us the Congressional Black Caucus is "providing guidance" to black preachers. This "guidance" provides rules on what they can and cannot say to their flocks on political matters.

Did the black preachers ask for guidance from the Obama Administration and is this really about silencing black preachers to prevent their preaching against gay marriage which it feels will lower black voter turnout in November?

While I don't like this practice, it's no different than the well known Republican Talking Points.

Talking Points exist to end discussion, not explore issues. Adopting them is what turns formerly reasonable politicians like Bob Dole into blathering idiots.

I don't know there Arturas... I checked around my section of the country and to be honest, can't find a parish that 'the black caucus' needs to talk to. They all pretty much DON'T GIVE A FUCK. Have you checked with the NON-RACIST, NON-HOMOPHOBIC parishes in your area. I know it could be tough finding them, so let us know if you need help.

The OP is essentially not being honest. The "Faith Leaders Summit" is about concerns about the "backlash preventing voter access" which is a DOCUMENTED PHENOMENA that has/is actively debated here

See the video calling Faith Leaders "to duty" describing this effort. It implies NOTHING of what our 'honest as the day is long' OP seems to be hinting at... Or is voter participation a bad think if you're black?: http://youtu.be/LRll4q2v9aY

Perhaps the OP is part of the concerted effort to undermine the black vote.

Have A Nice Day

I checked the OP's profile to learn his state (TN) but also see that he has "left this site."

Why would you think me dishonest when I actually quoted the newsclip and gave the source credit? MSNBC did not discribe it exactly as I wrote it except for my written perception that based on the timing and the nature of the quidence then it appears the goal is to suppress preachers from preaching against Obama's position and therefore suppressing votes for Obama. But admittedly I might have a biased opinion and expect others who have researched this to chime in with echos or contrasting opinions. I would not epect to be called a liar.

Well ... since it's bullshit, regardless of the sourcing, yeah, I would expect you to adjust your expectations.
Nobody says you have to like it.

Interesting post. A couple of polite questions.

1) Is the fact that I live in TN significant to you?

2) That "site" is the social site "Collarme", is it not? The site I (and you) are posting on is "Collarchat". So, I have not said I have left Collarchat. Is this not true?

3) Given this should be obvious, what is your point in this posting and how does it relate to the OP?

Sounds like a failed attempt at seeming clever or smarmy with people. Just remember you asked in a public setting. People are bound to give their opinions.

I don't mind considering the "sourcing" of the insult. I also do remain within the TOS and you do not. This says much about me and also about you.

Well, you didnt actually quote it.  you quoted--- providing guidance. From there your imagination took a turn.

what is guildlines and quidence  BTW?   It makes a murky flight of fancy even more miasmatic.

I am quite confident that the Black Caucus did not seek Mr. Obama's insight, as he is a president and they are legislators, and other than the very miniscule possibility that they all hail from Kenya, they are concerned about their races foremost, as he is concerned about his, foremost.

Actually the CBC is getting preachers to encourage their flocks to get registered to vote and to work to make sure they can vote under the new voter suppression laws being passed by so called conservatives.

If you had actually read the MSNBC article or seen the MSNBC coverage you would have known this. The only possible conclusion is you believed some part of the right wing hate media lies or you lied yourself.

What is non-factual about my post? How does stating facts and the truth seem "smarmy" to you? And what is "smarmy"?

Well the NAACP approves of it, but according to the article, not every church is on board.

http://www.freep.com/article/20120520/NEWS07/205200608/NAACP-resolution-endorses-gay-marriage

"Gay marriage has divided the black community, with many religious leaders opposing it. In Maryland, black religious leaders helped derail a gay marriage bill last year. But state lawmakers passed a bill this year to legalize gay marriage.

Pew Research Center polls show that African Americans have become more supportive of same-sex marriage in recent years, but remain less so than other groups. A poll conducted in April showed 39% of African Americans favor gay marriage, compared with 47% of white people. The poll showed 49% of black people and 43% of white people are opposed."
