Interesting. Very interesting report. I haven't researched it so it is interesting to see that the first three (roughly 3/4) are all about getting something that isn't available in the current relationship, whether it be due to distance, variety, timing, or physical reasons.

To the OP:
One word of advice I give you is communication is the key. Starting down the path of BDSM, get rid of the visions of porn and internet stuff and begin talking with your partner in detail. Talk about why is it you want to explore BDSM? What are you wants and desires for BDSM? After you have tried something sit down a talk about what you did like and what you did not like. You may not be able to answer many of these questions right away. But if you understand what and why your partner wants BDSM and vice versa, it will make it much more enjoyable. And like in vanilla relationship, you will learn what buttons to push and when to excite your partner :)
