That's true.[;)] I guess my thinking is it is mainstream but it's
still niche mainstream.
And I think a lot of the spanky/blindfold stuff is sold and
processed in a jokey sort of way. Beyond that many
people are less knowledgable and sometimes
less tolerant or that's been my personal experience
anyway.

Well I wouldn't argue with that, but it's still been a long time since this stuff was so thoroughly hidden that you'd never find it if you weren't looking for it.

addendum:

Fox News ran a piece on the book "50 Shades of Grey". bwaa hahahaha, they wouldn't even say "sex", and literally displayed the word on the screen and spelled it out. not once did they mention BDSM, and only mentioned kink and gear in passing. they called the book "mommy porn".

i loved the twinkle in the news anchor's eye as she admitted to having the book, but "i haven't read it yet". yeppers, she's into it ;)

Yep. I'd be bloody surprised if most (or even any) of the "Master" passwords to be found have anything to do with power exchange pervery.

You mean I've been watching MasterChef for all the wrong reasons?

Mainstream BDSM? You bet. But do NOT get carried away until DSM-V comes out in May, 2013. The current DSM (Diagnostic and Statisical Manual) still lists BDSM under the paraphilias (paraphilea ?)

That is so professional information I have to say

Homosexuality once was disorder ...
now it is acknowledge by American Psychiartic Association

quote:

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. The American Psychological Association Council of Representatives followed in 1975.[3] Thereafter other major mental health organizations followed and it was finally declassified by the World Health Organization in 1990

although BDSM is considered Paraphilia but thanks to some organizations like TES
http://www.tes.org/main/about.php
helping to reform the image of BDSM
I am expecting some changes in DSM V [8|]

I dunno. I see it on commercials, goths and emos, hear it in music, and just about every person I know has some kind of kinky sex of some kind or another. Then there's the books and movies that have running themes throughout them.

It is reaching out in this form
Subliminal messages to all who are naturally into D/s or S&M
from those who are already in the scene from singers/thinkers/writers

I see rammstein widely known German Band http://youtu.be/_eEdncImlmU
look at this video and tell me what you can see !!!

Would it be cynical and unhelpful to say: "I see a band ripping off of Nitzer Ebb"?
