Durian

The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as almonds, rotten onions, turpentine and gym socks. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia.

There are several deaths by falling durian fruit every year.

I don't really have a problem with any food except canned green beans. They're vile.

My ex husband's mother referred to these as "real" green beans, as in, she was surprised I wasn't making Thanksgiving green bean casserole from "real green beans."

I ended up eating a cheese burger today with Maple Syrup flavored bacon on it! Not to mention some other awful combinations of food served at a get together today. Next time, I'm going to do a shot of tequila to kill my taste buds... or simply not go.

There's a food truck around here that serves bacon flavored maple donuts and everyone around here absolutely loves them to the point that the truck sells out by mid morning.

I'll eat a doughnut like once every two months. I tend to eat more zesty foods to begin with. My cousin gifted me with some cookies last month slathered up with some sort of frosting on top. It tasted like Extra Strength Powered Sugar Fluff. Totally killing any taste of the cookie itself. She might as well slathered up rice cakes with it. LOL I ate half a cookie then pawned the rest off.

Anyways, I had added Onion, Mustard and Mayo like I always do to my Bacon Cheeseburgers. The Maple Syrup taste totally threw things off.

Some people like to overload Marinara Sauce with sugar?? WOW... Am I eating Itailian or Betty Crocker?

I'm waiting for people to start Tainting Taco's with sweetness. Maple Flavored Taco Shells. Perhaps Strawberry flavored picante sauce?

Damn, I'm a heartless bastard without a deeper appreciation for all things sweet.

Pretty much all foods that are commercially made have tons of sugar in them.

So unless you're making everything yourself at home and fresh from the garden and farm, yup, you're stuck with all that sugar lol.

I personally have an addiction to sugar. UGH. Give me a cupcake and the first thing I want is tons and tons of icing on top. I have to walk in the opposite direction when I see the cupcake food truck just so I don't stop and buy half a dozen lol.

Beets.

Pickled beets.

Cold 1/4" thick pickled beet STEAK with Grandma silently guilt tripping you into eating the damn thing.

The root cellar is full of pickled beets, some several years old, because no one will eat the damn things. Except Grandma, who survived the great depression, and so knows better than to let a single beet go to waste.

Don't forget other classics such as pickled Tripe.

I love pickled beets! They're great in a salad. We used to pickle them with eggs when I was a kid. It was one of our favorite snacks, especially around Easter when you would eat it with horseradish.

I second (or third) the vote for Durian. I've never met anyone who says they like it who wasn't lying. I would also not wish balut on my worst enemy.

I see we have a few foodies. Always nice.

I dislike bringing food anywhere into playtime. Food is something of a sacrament and it's one of the things that subtly draws the line betwixt playtime and realtime.

Really? I think food is fuel, a minor and superficial pleasure, and something that can be a lot of fun to play with.

Squash is banned in my home. You bring squash anywhere near it I'm getting the single tail and spreader bar. That includes relatives and visiting patrons above the age of 18. Even Grandma knows the rules!

Even chef Andrew Zimmern has a hard limit with these things. And is the host of of Bizarre Foods, runs around the world eating bugs and rotten goat's blood.

Dog and cat food are not human grade. I wouldn't eat (or feed my dog) most commercial brands. Just my two cents. You don't know what's in that stuff and the OP did say they wanted something non-toxic
