CO2 is not the sole cause of climate change. It is simply one of a number of possible causes. It is not a particular powerful driver of climate or we'd already have warmed more than 1C since we've nearly doubled the amount of CO2 in the air. That doesn't change the fact that we've found no other potential driver of climate change that is changing enough to account for the present global rise in temp. This stance of "you cannot explain everything therefore science is useless" is right out of the creationist movement. Is that really the group you want to hang your hat with? Oh, shame on you, Ken, for putting such words in my mouth! I never said nor implied that science is useless. Holy shit, man! I said rigorous science requires a modification or abandonment of a model if the facts don't fit, and I pointed out a glaring anomaly. Additionally, if carbon emissions are not such a powerful warming forcer then consider the remedy agreed to in the Kyoto Protocal and extended informally in Copanhagen. The agreement was basically to cut back the emission of greenhouse gases to roughly 5% off the base year of 1990. Alternative, non-emission fuels are unlikely to take up the slack. That means a cut back in manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation which means a cut back in J.O.B. growth at a time when the world population is estimated to grow from 6 billion to 9 billion. Do you see a problem there? I do. The fact is the model fits and there is no anomoly. Ultimately to stop climate change we must reduce CO2 emissions to the level that can be removed from the environment by natural processes, IOW zero net emissions, which is far more than a 5% reduction. The fact is going to alternative energy sources would actually produce new jobs and industries which would more than offset the number lost in the old energy industry. Which would you rather do coal mining or solar panel manufacturing and installation? BTW why if you're so open minded on the subject are you parroting the lies of the climate denialist movement? Surely if you had approached the subject with an open mind you would have found contradictory information that convincingly challenged your claims before now.
