What it means is for some reason, whether your personal domain or not,. (and IF your domain) has something set that blocks the CM mail as spam,. AOL does this also. If you set another address and now it works, it stands to reason it was the email address, for WHATEVER reason, hmm? Im glad it is sorted for you.]
By the way, just for the record, not that it matters now that is solved, the username Okeanos has not sent any mail to support in the last 6 months, which is the time period this thread covered. We DO get behind and sometimes take longer to answer than supports than we would like at times, but when we NEVER get the support, it truly is hard to answer, if not impossible.

Okeanos -> RE: Shouldn't there exist some technical help forum? (11/15/2012 1:43:26 PM)

Oh, hello, VideoAdminAlpha!

My personal domain's DNS is handled by ZoneEdit.com. I have set it up to forward to my gmail address. Email from collarme.com going through zoneedit never reaches my gmail address. Email from collarme.com going directly to gmail reaches it. There is a multitude of reasons why this may be happening, and from your point of view you are correct in presuming that the error is most likely on my side, but one thing that you might want to consider is that I do not have any problems whatsoever with any other domain trying to send me email via zoneedit. It is only collarme.com that seems to have a problem.

Regarding the support email, I have been a member for a lot longer than 6 months. Now, I looked at my outbox and I did not find anything ever sent to [email protected], so I may have contacted you via some other avenue, most likely via http://www.collarme.com/personals/support.htm

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Shouldn't there exist some technical help forum? (11/15/2012 1:51:09 PM)

That is where I looked. The date of this thread is only 5 months old, so I assumed when you said you had written support with no answer that it was right before you started the thread. That would mean the letter would still be support. ( I supervise all the areas of the site, so I have access to that mail)[;)] Irregardless, the problem is solved, which is wondrous. Good luck on the site and in your search!

Alpha

Wow! You call yourself a computer professional and it took you five months to sort that out. Okasies.

And you're *still* pissy about the issue? Okaysis again.

BTW: The backpeddle about contacting support is hysterical.

Thank you for letting us forum members know who YOU are.

Yes, there should be a forum for discussing the forum itself. Almost every forum has one. This forum has needed one for the 12 years I've been using it, but I have to think that if they haven't bothered yet, they aren't going to. Sadly, you just have to make your post in an inappropriate area.

No problems that you're aware of, you mean.

Who controls the MX for your domain? Is your ISP filtering mail based on the RBL or some other criteria?

12 years, really? You want to count those years again?

Math is hard.

**just choked on my drink** lol They really WERE one of the first ones here, even before the site started[;)]

edited to add; specially since im not sure, but i think it was at least two years the site was up with no discussion forums. You would know more than that stef you been here since then )

Technically, yes, no problems that I am aware of. But practically, when there are problems, I do become aware of them pretty quickly, trust me.

As I wrote above, DNS (and therefore MX) is handled by zoneedit. It forwards everything to gmail. So, my ISP is not involved. I do not know whether ZoneEdit uses RBL or any other kind of spam filtering, but judging by the fact that I was unable to find any information related to that, I would assume that they don't. In any case, if zoneedit is blocking collarme.com, then I would assume that's something that collarme.com would already know and would have already fixed, because zoneedit is so big.

According to some (admittedly dated) information, it looks like they do employ mandatory spam filtering on forwarded mail. I'd guess there's at least a good chance that's the problem. I wouldn't personally assume CM would have been aware of the issue or have fixed it.

Just in case someone ever wanders in here looking for an answer to this question:

I changed the email address to something @gmail.com and lo and behold, it immediately started working.

Apparently collarme.com refuses to send any email to my personal domain.
My personal domain does not happen to be a dot-com domain.
(Discrimination against non-americans?)

And for those who might be tempted to suggest that perhaps my domain is not set up correctly, I assure you that its "intodns.com" report does not contain a single red mark.

Not the discrimination part, but the rest of that was actually interesting. I had no idea that it was because there wasn't a dot-com address being used. For that, I'm going to say thanks because it was one of the things that I honestly didn't know.

Okeanos -> RE: Shouldn't there exist some technical help forum? (11/16/2012 11:16:50 AM)

@LadyPact, we do not know yet what the problem was, so we cannot really say that it was due to a non-dot com domain.

As for the discrimination part, I wrote it jokingly, of course.

Wow, you are right. So then zoneedit might be considering CM as a possible spammer. Perhaps this is something that CM might want to look at.

Oh geeze. Back when I played wow, yahoo treated World of Warcraft like it was a possible scammer every time they installed a new update.

In this perfect world of computers, shit happens.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Shouldn't there exist some technical help forum? (11/16/2012 12:46:43 PM)

You played World of Warcraft?

My mind has been blown.

Still, it's a good possibility to suggest should somebody have the same question in the future. I see that as positive.

Yes I did, but I have an excuse. I was going through some pain management issues and needed a diversion <coff coff> that sounds good, right?

Did I mention I was going through menopause as well? All those hormones zinging around can make a person do crazy things.

It's not a given that whoever handles DNS for you would also handle your mail, which is why I asked.

Never assume. Ask.

Again, never assume.
